CRTV keeps switching between component and composite?

So I just picked up this CRT TV and the image quality is amazing on it. The only problem I'm having is that it shares a component and composite for one input. I have nothing plugged into the composite input but it keeps switching between Component and Composite while I'm playing games. It only does it when there's a black screen though. I want it to just stay on Component.

Anybody know how to stop this?

I've never had a TV that had an auto-switch function.

I would look in the menu and see if you can turn off the auto-switch. If you can't find one, there is likely one in the service menu, just gotta find the service manual first.

That's not the service manual, that's the user manual. Service manual is what is used by repairmen and technicians. They can be hard to find sometimes.

My Panasonic plasma will switch to composite if it senses the blue and red signals disappear. If that's the reason yours is doing it, the only thing I could think of is to tighten your connectors.

some tvs have a physical switch inside the green jack on the component input. if your cable isnt plugged all the way in or if the switch is bad it will switch to composite. if you want component all of the time the solution is to open up your tv and solder the contacts in the switch closed. only bad thing is that you lose composite input.
