HDMI Switch Questions

Post by evil_ash_xero »

I'm looking for an HDMI switch, with two outputs.

Anyone recommend a nice one? Not a cheap no-name kind of thing. I'd like it to last a while.

Also, do any of these cause ANY lag. I read, for the most part, that they cause no lag. But one dude on NeoGAF said that they caused about a frame.

So, what's the deal?

Yeah, like a Matrix kind of thing.

Does a splitter cause any lag either?

I don't know about lag, can't measure it, unfortunately.
This is what I am using : http://www.micomsoft.co.jp/rooty_hd_matrix.htm

4 Inputs 2 Outputs (plus a digital audio output)

Looks nice. I'd like something a bit more domestic (USA), as Japanese imports cost a ton.

The Micomsoft isn't any better than your average 4x2 matrix. Just check out ebay or hdtvsupply.com. You don't have to worry about lag. Unless it's got some special features (like PiP preview for the other inputs like the DVDO), there won't be any lag. Memory buffer is expensive and manufacturers don't add it unless it's got a purpose.

I used monoprice hdmi switches for years without any issues.
