Notes:
Surface Task Force composition is used.
This map can and will be incredibly annoying. Everything along the way has a chance to one-shot you, particularly CV Hime who carries takoyaki bombers that do a ton of damage even during Red T.
So far, two of of three attempts have been full kills, with the miss being a straight retreat when CV Hime sent Kaga back to the docks from full health.
I may switch out Maya for either a Myoukou-class or Tone-class with the Fleet Command Facility and a double-attack setup, instead, since AACI doesn't seem to be that effective here. Maya still appears to do some good damage though, so we'll see. What is mandatory though, is the full set of night battle equipments, and all torpedo cut-in setups on the second fleet. If you're particularly lucky, a torpedo cut-in does 500HP+. o_O

EDIT: Seems like Maya and AACI actually works a little better than a regular CA and the FCF. First attempt with a CA had Haruna sent back to the docks, the boss barely taken to 50% health, and all of Kaga's bombers neutralised by CV Hime before we even got to the boss.
Also, it appears that AACI helps keep some of Kaga's bombers alive for attacking in later nodes, and gimps some of CV Hime's along the way, so that's really useful.
Logging out for the night with about 50% of the health bar left after five attempts (3 out of 5 full kill success rate so far, one partial kill). Also, very pleased to welcome Sakawa to the fleet. Hopefully Noshiro appears as well, to complete the collection. :3

One word of warning though, this map is resource-intensive. Very resource-intensive.

Getting those gains! Grats on E-5. Sakawa seems like she could be a really powerful CA on paper. Her luck stat makes me feel like she could do some nasty damage in night battles. From what I've read, the base AA stat of the unit doing AACI is really important - Maya or Akizuki's AACI's are much more effective at neutralizing bombers than those of other units (or so I hear).

The whole event cost me about 25k fuel and ammo, 20k steel, 2.5k bauxite. And E-6 took a half from these. Surprise this time it didn't get me stuck in E-6 for too long.

But now it's time to farm Rome, not built in a day. Oh. :lol:

E-3 has a restriction: no slow BB/BBV and CV are allowed.
I took DD FBB [3CA/V] CVL and it worked quite well, though you might want to mix up your FBB, CA and CAV based on what you have available in your fleet - DD and CVL should be mandatory. Standard double-attack equipments should be fine, and if you have AACI available then even better.
And take the top route, you'll thank me later. ^_-

CLT mandatory? Hmmm. I've heard CLT recommended for E-4 as well. Should I reserve Ooi for E-3 and Kitakami for E-4?

CVL, not CLT. You're getting your abbreviations mixed up. :lol:
If you only have one each of the torpedo cruisers (CLT), I'd keep them for later maps. I'd recommend that in preparation for future events, you keep at least two each of the torpedo cruisers.

EDIT: Just found out that the flagship of the escort fleet is considered to be unsinkable, so I've switched up my escort fleet composition and equipment a little so they can deal with the BB Hime in E-6's night node a little better - Haruna is now the flagship and carries the Searchlight instead of Ayanami, so that way Haruna gets the benefit of flagship protection, and it frees up Ayanami for launching nuclear torpedoes at everything. Haruna is pretty lucky anyway, so there's always a good chance she'll dodge anything that comes her way.
The other benefit of removing the AP Shell is that she won't be using that highly inaccurate cut-in attack any more.
Also swapped out the 2x 15.5cm (yellow) on both Ooi and Kitakami for 2x Quint O2 Torps. Time to watch the fireworks fly! :lol:

Ah, derp =P. If my E-3 comp is DD, FBB, 3 CA(V), CVL, then I'm fine. That leaves both CLTs for E4 if I need them; I don't think I'll be using them on E-5.

E-2 Clear info:

Used surface fleet.

Main: Mutsu Kirishima Fusou Yamashiro Hiyou Junyou
Escort: Nagara Yukikaze Shimakaze Ooi Kitakami Maya (tried Imuya for some clears)

Hiyou and Junyou could carry some bombers during the initial runs, then I needed to switch over to full AS setup on the final. Brought Maya for AACI on the last runs, but it didn't prove super critical. Used CLTs and support expeditions to try to clear out a lot of the trash ships beforehand so my BBs could concentrate on shooting the really dangerous stuff (other BBs).

Got tripped up a bit with some sniper oneshots, but the final clear went crazy smooth. All my support expeditions triggered and hit things, and only Mutsu took light damage. I picked up Hayashimo from the second-to-last clear.

E-6 Hard and the Spring 2015 Event has been completed!

God, that last kill took forever to do! Perhaps ten straight attempts to try and get it, and at least 6 buckets per attempt burned, so I took drastic measures and rolled out the Boss Support Expedition again.
However, the expedition isn't much use if you can't get to the boss, but thankfully I rolled through the first three battles with virtually no damage.
The boss opening airstrike and torpedo strike was nondescript, maybe 30HP total. The expedition airstrike, however…

Maybe we can do this!

Maya shredded the remaining bombers from CV Hime with an AACI, which meant that her attacks would be neutralised, and even BB Water Demon was being unusually inaccurate. The girls took their time cleaning up the trash mobs, but couldn't kill the boss during the day.

No matter. Aside from knocking Yukikaze to medium, the second fleet was largely intact, so we might be in with a good chance of doing this.
However, much to my annoyance, only the Searchlight activated - Starshell and Night Scout have a low activation rate, so my crit chance wasn't as high as I would have liked - and I started to worry that they wouldn't manage to do the job this time. Doubly so when BB Water Demon took out Kitakami completely on her one and only attack during yasen. The remaining girls took their chances and chipped down the boss, then…

I certainly didn't trust a medium-damaged Yukikaze to wrap things up, no matter how much health the boss would have had remaining after Ooi's assault.

That wraps up the main event portion for me. This is actually the first seasonal event I've cleared on Hard difficulty - the Summer 2014 event (and my first full event) I skipped out on attempting E-6 due to dwindling resources, and Winter 2014's E-4 and E-5 were done on Medium and Easy respectively - so it's doubly rewarding to see all the preparation I put into building up my fleet the past few months pay off. The girls have done good, and will fully deserve their instant repair buckets. :3
What's really pleased me about this clear, though, is it was done without any of the Yamato-class BB and Taihou, so victory is even sweeter.

Grats on hard clear! I'm really curious about what Akitsushima does. She's super expensive for a plane tender, and the large boats don't seem to serve any obvious purpose that would justify being the reward of a large event. She also has only 3 plane slots, and you can get exactly 3 of them in the event. That seems really coincidental.

I feel like she's going to enable some kind of unique expedition (like Katori), or better pathing in maps, or maybe even have some kind of unique function like Akashi. I bet we'll learn more about her after the event is over.

Started exploring E-3 Normal. Seems like a pretty easy map after E-2. I'll probably just clear through in the interest of saving time for the tougher maps. I might come back later if I have time though, the boss node drops a lot of useful ships and it wouldn't be resource intensive to farm.

Next map might be a challenge though. I'll need to power level Katsuragi a bit to bring her up to par, and I also need to craft some Sanshiki ammo (I've only got one).

10/90/90/30 with a BB flagship is your best bet to craft any AA/AP Shells, and it's pretty cheap for a recipe.
I'd say at the very least you need four of each type for this and future events, and of course, more than that is a bonus.

The second map of the event seems impossible, even on easy. The wiki is pretty lacking in info, the only useful info being that having 3 torpedo cruisers makes it easier, and I only have 1 of them leveled at all. Everybody I have is between levels 20-30, and and in combined fleet everybody sucks, and my battleships target destroyers nearly exclusively, then miss anyway. Is there some exploit, I feel like I'm a high enough level that logically something called "easy difficult" shouldn't be impossible. Why even have difficulty selection if that's the case.

Also, I'm consistently sub 1,000 fuel, even though my other 3 resources are in the 2,500-4,000 range. Kind of irritating. Anything I can do about that? Oh, and I'm practically out of instant repairs.

E-2 is a Combined Fleet map, but you don't necessarily need torpedo cruisers to get through it - it does make it a little easier, though. You do need a variety of good ships, however.

For reference, I went through it with 2FBB 4CV in the first fleet, and CA CL CLT 3DD in the second fleet, using the Carrier Task Force composition.

If you don't have many decent CV/CVL at a good level, switch to a Surface Task Force instead (up to 4BB and either 1CV or 2CVL in the first fleet), for higher attack power and protecting the second fleet for night combat.

The other thing about Combined Fleet mechanics is that everyone in your fleet will have a low accuracy debuff applied, so they'll miss a lot more shots than normal. This is presumably to balance out the fact that in Combined Fleet, it's usually 12 vs 6. Full-sparking your ships, and equipping accuracy-increasing gear can help to mitigate this, but don't expect to be able to push them up to 95-100% accuracy in Combined Fleet.

How many fleets do you have unlocked?
If you have all four, spamming 5-13-21 gets you 1200 fuel and ammo every 4.5hr, along with the chance for a couple of buckets. Spamming 2-4-10 gets you up to up to 5 buckets every 1.5hr if you're lucky.
Doing your daily and weekly quests also helps, but for real gains, you need to do those with submarines. Lots of submarines.
Sparkle all of the ships for an expedition at World 1-1 if you want guaranteed Great Success. It takes time to fully sparkle everyone, however.

You can't do a whole lot (well, not very quickly) if you have no fuel and no repairs. Try the expeditions Icarus mentioned to build your resources back up. If you don't have 4 fleets available, unlocking all 4 should be your first priority, because the more fleets you have, the more resources you can get (and you also have more support options).

After that, completing the map involves mitigating RNG as much as you can. On E-2, that involves destroying a lot of the "trash" destroyers and light ships with accurate preemptive attacks, so that your heavier ships will get the most chances to take out the important targets who threaten your fleet the most.

I ended up using support expeditions to help push my fleet through consistently, but that's pretty expensive (resources wise). A good support fleet includes 2BB, 2DD, and 2CV(L). There are good articles on the wiki about equipment setup for this.

Regarding CLTs, on map 2 at least you can get away with replacing them with subs, if you have decently leveled ones.

How are your ships looking stat-wise? It's really important that your ships are modernized and have high level stats in events. Having better armor makes surviving to the boss a lot more consistent - enemies will usually chip you a lot, but they won't knock you to red as often.

My composition for E-2 was:

E-3 Normal Clear. Very easy map. Once you get past the crunchy outer shell of Cruiser Demon, the map has a delicious nougat center of poorly-guarded transport nodes. Omnomnomnom XD. I wish we could have this map all the time, it would make weekly quests so much easier!

Had a couple retreats due to Shigure getting crit, but it was pretty smooth. I ended with more buckets than I started, and my resources increased as well. This is good, because I feel like the next map is going to be brutal.

Brought 6 ships, didn't need to commit more since they were completely capable. Composition used:

Hiei Tone Chikuma Mogami Shigure Junyou

Shigure brought one token sonar to do a bit more damage to the sub node. I accepted that I wouldn't S this node every time in the interest of having a better setup for the rest of the nodes. Junyou could get air superiority with a single stack of Shiden Kai, so I loaded her with 2x torpedo bomber 1x dive bomber for the remaining slots.

No notable ship drops.

Aside from getting enough sanshiki, any other tips for E-4?

Currently stuck in the purgatory that is E-6 Hard farming.

EDIT: Geh, that's depressing. I've levelled Akitsushima to all the way to lv35 Kai just from having her in the first fleet flagship position while I farm E-6, and still haven't seen Roma yet. ._.

I'm realizing that, while I'm invested in this game more than I'm ok with, I also don't care nearly enough to post a bunch of stats. So...thanks for trying to help anyway! I don't have the 4th fleet, I'm missing Kongou and Haruna. Last time I tried that map, one of my destroyers got heavy damaged on the first node. Pretty sure this isn't happening.

It might just be too early. Events are difficult and require a pretty formidable fleet. I'd just concentrate on progressing through the main game and developing your forces. You can get Kongou from the first node of map 2-4; you can get Haruna from the 2-2 boss node. If you try the recipe 400 fuel, 30 ammo, 600 steel, and 30 baux for your daily construction quests, you will have a good chance to get battleships and you will get all the Kongou class eventually.

Kongou also drops really frequently from the boss node of E-1, if you can complete that map on Easy. You'll also have a chance to get some other really good ships from that node, too.

E-4 Hard farming is kind of easy, but also kind of expensive since there isn't a really economical but consistent way to get to nodes M and E at the moment. But the drops seem to be better, since in three runs, I've also had Ise and Kumano drop on clears, and preboss is usually a Perfect S. I'll need to look at modifying the E-6 farming composition perhaps and forgo farming Zuikaku and Akitsu Maru at the boss node if it gets too costly.

Nice one! Fortune favors us today. I did one run of E-3 to clear through the daily transport quest quickly, and Takanami appeared!

That's one more event ship down. Currently preparing my fleet for E-4... after spending a huge pile of dev mats, I have a bunch of AP shells and sanshiki to fight the boss with, but I still want to level up my carriers a bit more. I tried to upgrade my recon seaplanes as well, but had no luck with it.

Saw something funny in PVP today as well. Is this your troll fleet, Icarus =D?

That's definitely not me. I use the "IcarusFW" screenname, I'm level 104, and my trollfleet consists of 3CLT 3SS :3

EDIT: Fifth Shoukaku dropped this event. Normally not complaining as it's free +5 AA for my ships, but come on, Zuikaku! Where are you? :<

EDIT2: Game has a sense of humor. Sixth Shoukaku from E-4 Boss. :/

EDIT3: Picked up a third Hayashimo (the previous two were from Summer 2014) and Nowaki.
Nowaki is kind of useless stat-wise, but has two useful bits of equipment at Kai (93 Sonar and 12.7cm HA-LM), so she'll be on the powerlevel list, and then will be used as modernisation fodder once done. :V

I actually want a few duplicates of her as she carries the Skilled Lookouts at Kai, and they'd be extremely useful on night combat maps.
Still looking for Zuikaku. Being typically tsun-tsun, as usual.

Preparing my ships for the remaining event maps. Powerleveled Suzuya to her CAV promotion for E-5. There is a snare with the carrier plans for E-4 though... looking at plane counts/defense, Katsuragi is kind of underpowered (compared to my better CVLs) in her base form. She requires a blueprint for promotion too, which I don't have atm (and there are a lot of ships that use them!). I think I might have to sub in Chitose/Chiyoda instead; I'm just a few levels from Kai2, and they should do in a pinch.

All these token rare destroyers don't generally have relevant gear or stats... I feel like they are in the game just for completionists =P. Maybe some day they'll start giving them Kai2's and they'll be really awesome.

Not sure about going out of your way to farm duplicate Takanamis. I mean, Lookouts basically just enable a ship with lower luck to do cut ins... would you ever need more than one or two in any given fleet composition =/?

It's either that or farm a crapload of Maruyu to increase the luck stat.
One takes forever, the other is possibly "quicker".
They're known to add about 15 to 20% chance to cut-in, and on a ship like Yuudachi - who is ridiculously powerful at night but has a low chance to cut-in - it could be critical to beating some maps. Also, Skilled Lookouts are an item-based stat increase, so they won't be affected by Kai/Kai2 modernisation, which is the downside to farming a ton of Maruyu.
The other thing is, aside from Takanami, Skilled Lookouts are only available from Choukai, and you need a Blueprint to get them. Better to get a bunch while you have the chance, than be stuck with 0 or 1.

Even though she was still shy when she dropped (her image didn't fully load up), I knew it was Zuikaku when the rainbow background appeared, and I saw the words "航空母艦" (standard aircraft carrier). Both Kaga and Shoukaku have a gold background, and the light carriers mainly have silver backgrounds.
I'm going to keep going for a bit longer and see if I can pull one or two more Takanami. At the very least, the stuff that drops will help modernise my new fleet girls. :3
(I have pretty much blitzed my resources though - under 100k for fuel and ammo for the first time in months, and rapidly approaching 350 remaining buckets from a start of about 800…)

Yep! Going to try to complete E-4 today, E-5 tomorrow, and save the rest of the week for E-6. If I have any time left, I will try to farm Roma and/or Unryuu. I'd like to at least get Akitsushima, I have a feeling she's going to be tied to some really interesting game mechanic.

At the very least, her Type 2 Flying Boats will contribute a lot to LoS (70+ with all three), which would potentially free up carriers from loading up on too many Saiun/Type 2 Recon, making space for more fighters and bombers. The only issue with that idea is it means your fleet will only have five attacking ships, rather than six, since Akitsushima's attacking power is virtually non-existent.

E-4 Normal down! 7 runs, 7 clean kills. Nice work, fleet girls =). Grinding for morale gets *really* tedious though. It's just busy work, they should just put an expedition in the game that is literally "give your fleet girls a vacation" and you send units on it to give them morale.

The highlights/notable drops: Kiyoshimo, Kinugasa, Akitsumaru(!), and of course Tomoe Mami- I mean, Littorio. The 90mm cannon is nice too because it has an AAFD built in.

Did the math on the landing craft, and it looks like the "break even" point for the landing craft is about 200 resources? Should add some nice income to my expeditions. I'm pretty excited for Littorio/Italia. It looks like she's a pretty strong unit, statistically. Another unit that requires a blueprint, though. My resources are feeling rather light now after sending out that huge combined fleet of BBs and CVs a bunch...

Akitsu Maru! Lucky. I would be farming for her, but she can be built via LSC, so she isn't a priority now I have all the ships from the event I wanted. Maybe she'll appear when I'm spamming the crap out of LSC trying to get I-401…

Littorio is great, stat-wise she's equivalent to Bismarck Drei, has the range of a Yamato-class, and has great evasion and health compared to other FBBs. Her main drawbacks, however, are the need for a Blueprint to remodel, and her high resource consumption which puts her between Bismarck and the Yamatos in resources eaten per sortie.
One tip though: when you're starting her off, don't load up her 381mm/50 guns, because they have accuracy down, and she needs all the accuracy she can get. Give her 35.6cms until she's remodelled and approaching lv50, where the combination of Kai and level will help offset the loss of accuracy from the 381mm/50s.

E-5 can and will be a pain. If you're going to be using an SS in your fleet, I'd advise you throw as many engines onto her as you can because she will get rekt on the way to the boss - I've used up four Repair Teams on the way to my E-5 Hard clear. You have a choice of either:

- putting her in the flagship position, in which case she gains flagship protection and extra evasion, but you sacrifice the ability to strike first during night combat;
- putting her last in the fleet, giving you preemptive strike ability during night combat, but leaving her open to instant crits.

Ah good point about the resource consumption. I guess you pay to get that extra power ^_^;. I'll have to keep that in mind.

So I was doing some testing with the 90mm HA in place of the 25mm Concentrated on Maya, and it doesn't seem to AACI anywhere near as much.

At the moment, the best set up for her appears to be [20.3cm no3] [25mm Concentrated] [12.7cm HA +AAFD] [FuMO25 Radar], which according to this breakdown (not totally up-to-date) AACI's some 60% of time, which is the highest of the non-DD AACI setups at the moment. The 90mm HA seems to reduce the chances to AACI at least from my testing, same as if I replaced the 25mm Concentrated with a seaplane (to enable daytime cut-in attacks).

Maya still does some good damage normally, but until the day comes when we can attach an AAFD to a red gun (never going to happen), this is the best available. I'm still waiting until more people crank out the hard numbers, though, just to confirm my thoughts.

E5 Normal down. This map was really awkward... a really tough installation boss with no combined fleet this time. Had a couple near misses where I couldn't quite finish the boss off. Imuya did her best with the tanking and only sank twice (when the boss changed formations and gained destroyers in the final form). Two damecons down =P. Still, we won eventually!

Yahagi appeared on the first boss kill, very lucky!

Just one more to go. Man, this is exhausting. Not much time left though, maybe I'll chicken out and beat the last one on Easy =P.
