That was kinda fun, last music theme is really nice too, there's some visibility issues with too much white stuff, the flame enemies, white shots and graze items all look very similar.
Hopefully Reisen's bomb interacts with the mechanics somehow and it's not just a noobcannon, doesn't look like it since it cancels bullets whenever you get hit.
Reisen is probably the scoring character like DDC Sakuya B. Crap for survival but can potentially get the most points? Though maybe not as you can't seem to invincibility graze with it(try to get on a boss to graze all the stuff that appears and you just go through the shield and life quickly similar to what happens when you get hit by a wall of bullets in Guwange.
Couldn't get far on Lunatic or Hard due to the weak shots, but I didn't try very much. Also did a normal mode playthrough on the checkpoint mode, though there were still a few spellcards I just couldn't seem to get like that last one(like 50+ tries on that one card then just bombed it away).
Also wow the texts in this game are pretty bad. They're on the fucking top layer for some reason. Don't bother with the center of the screen when CHAPTER FINISH pops up, and never hide in the bottom right corner at the beginning of boss fights.

I like it but it's not even close to my favourite. The scoring seems fun though. Maybe I should try scoring in SA because scoring in that game and this game seem kinda similar?
Although demo I guess so can't make a full judgement.
1 bomb is like 3 fail safes for the rest of the stage, basically lets you make 50 mistakes if you bomb wisely! The only drawback is that they make your hitbox bigger.
Played through the demo once. It's great. You can bomb for score. Weak shot kinda makes you think more tactically; You can't expect to just sit in one place and expect everyone to die. Still have to check other characters.
Also have so madskills based on Reimu's pose in character select.

Where are you guys getting the demo? Don't tell me you all have a physical copy.

Does it make your grazebox bigger as well? inb4 scorez

No it's brutal. Tight gaps, fast bullets, lack of resources (you get like 2 bombs per stage if you graze the HELL out of everything? Not sure if you can get more than 1 fragment from a checkpoint). Feels like I'm playing STGs for the first time again.

I have to say, I quite like the "grazing slows falling items" thing here; one of the most irritating parts of other games in the series was getting pinned down by spam and watching a load of items vanish (or making a desperate attempt to catch them and getting plugged), but here you can take a bit of time to clear things out or just plan a path if you're careful. Also, for lack of a better word there seems to be a bit more "feedback" to grazing than usual, which makes it a bit easier to get a feel for it...eager to see what gets tweaked between now and the final release.
The Chapter Finish thing doesn't work very well. It sometimes pops up early when enemies from the chapter are still on the screen, denying you the full Shooting Down bonus when you can kill all the enemies from the chapter. Plus, having it obscure the action gets annoying at some points. It would be better to show on the side or bottom of the screen.
It's also concerning that the normal game mode is now considered "legacy" by ZUN. I wonder if lives will be phased out in future titles, given that ZUN seems to believe they are an outdated concept. "Pointdevice" makes me think you could use a pointing device like a mouse to control the character, but it seems you can't do that. I expect that functionality to be added.
Slowing down items while grazing and showing the graze range are innovations that I hope can appear in future games.
Random thoughts:
Since Reisen's bomb persists, use it once at the beginning of the stage to set up shields and get a ~free POC~.
Low shoot down + high graze = no score. Welp. I don't know how to score Stage 3 with this. Everything you shoot explode like it's Ketsui Ura.
Is it more beneficial to kill attacks only when the timer's about to run out?

Yep, also, your hitbox and grazebox is at their biggest when you have 3 shields up, which makes you wanna set that up properly before going into certain high graze attacks. I managed to score 412 millions with Reisen on normal, and someone else has already done 414 millions with Sanae on normal.
Those grazes. But is there any reason you don't wait until just before the attack times out to finish them? I don't think time left has anything to do with the chapter bonus, but even for the spellcards, if there's enough graze, it should probably be drawn out as much as possible if you can get enough graze to cover the spell bonus.

I haven't planned everything, I'm counting on PiV increase weighing up for lost bonus :/
OH SHIT, I just realized how much Battle Barkaid tier Sanae is.
Her bomb takes long time to go off, and you can safely rub your face into a wall of bullets to get a life fragment.
You need 3 fragments to get an extend. Each death gives you 3 bombs.
Pointdevice mode is worthless, suicide is not a mistake.
Lunarians can go fuck themselves. YGW is our true god!
EDIT: Dying also gives you enough i-frames to graze some life fragment.

Let's spend a moment to appreciate the best final boss opener ever
No fluff, no bullet hell, no "flowers", just ONE dense ass ring of bullets for the sole purpose of killing u. There's nothing to graze either unless you're Sanae.

My 1CCs so I can find the list easier myself <Despatche> you've been a thorn in the shmups community since the beginning, you're largely responsible for the horrible face of modern speedrunning
I'm thinking that there's some reason behind it, like it's part of her character or something. I don't think Zun would use danmaku like that otherwise.
