Can the BVM-20F1U do 480P?

Post by atheistgod1999 »

I decided to test 480P on my PS2 on my new monitor. The only game I found that I own that supports it is Sonic Mega Collection Plus (purchased a long time ago when I didn't know better; only reason I haven't sold it like I have with Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog (never beat them, but I'm not exactly inclined to beat the crappiest versions of 2 mediocre games) is because the case has GameStop's replacement box art instead of the original).

I held down X and Triangle as it booted up, and I got a dialogue box asking if I want to turn on 480P, saying it only works with component cables (I'm using those) and 480P-compatible TVs. I selected OK and then the screen doubled with one being displayed on each side of the screen and both squashed horizontally. When I go back to 480i, it goes back to normal.

I tested my PS3 as well, and it has the same issue.

WTF seriously!?!?!? WTF why are people saying this monitor is so good when it can't even do 480p!?!? The fucking PVMs can go all the way to 1080i, for Christ sake! It doesn't affect me that much (if at all) but I'm still shocked.

The minority of PVMs can display ED or HD signals. A few can. Same thing with the BVMs. If you're unable to check the monitor's specs before buying, blame yourself.

Don't go into whiny-bitch mode for you first post on the forum please.

Most people that use PVM/BVM monitors have separate monitors/TV's for 480p and higher material. I use a PC CRT, the majority of people use 1080p LCD/Plasma.

Sorry for being a bitch. I have a 40" 1080p LCD in the living room, but it kinda sucks for PS3 games because it has like 3 frames of input lag when the source is 720P. I mean, I have a PS4, but there's still a shitload of PS3 games I want to play.

No "game mode" option for your LCD?
