Advice on webhosting, please

Post by greg »

I need a new home for my homepage. At the end of this month, my subscription to my Japanese ISP, Asahi-Net, will come to an end. No more cool looking sakura.email.ne.jp e-mail address. I've subscribed to Cox high speed internet. I love the speed, but I'm terribly disappointed in their webhosting. I was told that I'd have 70 megabytes of webspace, but now I've learned that in order to use it all, I must create six additional dummy e-mail accounts in order to use the full potential. On top of that, only a 300MB monthly bandwidth limit. Nuts!

My homepage is pretty huge... it's pushing 40 megs. My Super Famicom page alone is over 12 megs, so that won't fit nicely into a 10 meg slot at all.

So, does anyone have any suggestions for a place to host my webpages? I just did a quick search on Google and Canaca.com offers 20,000MB (way more than I need) for $3.95 per month, with a $10 annual domain name registration. 500GB bandwidth traffic per month. Not bad. Has anyone used this service? Are they reliable? Anyone use something better?
