Looking for a supergun

Never been good with electronics, so I would never dare building my own.
Therefore, I need some tips on good supergun builders with fair prices. I'd preferably want one with PS2 pad support and a standard european (outside UK) socket. So far I've only found one that looks alright:

I don't think anyone would bother to build a supergun with PS2 pad support, since the cost of building something that would decode the PS2 controller signals to something that JAMMA can understand would probably cost more than buying a Saturn pad and hacking it to conform to the NeoGeo pinout, which is cheap and also better since the signal is uncompressed.

I'm sure somebody here or at neo-geo.com can build you a supergun for a far better price. 170 lbs for scart?? Mine probably only came to $170 CAD after throwing in an expensive S-video encoder. If I had a RGB television like SCART or something, my cost would have been closer to $90 CAD.

They're not giving you many useful features either... they don't bother tone down the audio output at all. I really must advise you against getting such a skim featured gun for such a high price.

I had one of their superguns through ravengames london in about 1997, ive heard good things about them. But myself i've had 2 off them and the psu died on the both, i got my money back in the end. But that was 9 years ago so they may be okay now, dunno.

I'm going to Japan next month, and can probably help. Shipping might be pricey, but the Sigma ones are generally the best ones around.

Thenks for the info neorichieb1971, the price seems reasonable for the build quality and the fact that you're getting 2 joysticks as well.

Anyone know detailed specs on these things?

That has got to be the slimest, most compact, best looking Supergun that I've ever seen!

Pretty sure it's Sanwa parts, but can't say for sure. oxtsu probably knows. I remember when I played VF4 all the time, the guys at the arcades would pop Sanw buttons in and out in no time when we complained.

Awful nice of you Gaijin, but I think I want one of those western-style superguns (no built-in joystick), and I think I've found a good seller (a Uberia Minigun with Neo Geo controller outputs, convertable to PS2 with an adapter).

Here's a picture of it:

I might reconsider though, how much is the unit itself, and what makes it better than most other superguns? Is it possible to get one with a Seimitsu stick?

The Sigma I have (AV7000) is a unit only. The 9000TB stick, is a stick made entirely of Seimitsu parts. It's completely seperate from the supergun. It uses a 13-pin DIN connector. The only problem is that the parts are pretty expensive. The S-Video cable is about 1500 yen, and the RGB cable is about 2500 yen. THere's a Playstation cable to use the stick on your PS/PS2, but it's 4000 yen. Finally, the Jamma harness is 3500 yen I believe.

If you just want a bare bones system + jamma harness, it would run around $400 or maybe a bit more after shipping. None of that stuff is light. It is, however, a solid supergun.

Thanks for the info. I don't think I'm interested in spending that kind of money on a supergun, since I'll probably be getting a cabinet eventually. I thinkI'll go with the Uberia supergun, thanks for the offer though!

That Jamma connector design on that uberia SG looks suspect, it wouldn't hurt to have a ribbon style harness or some extension using wires. If you pull the joystick too far your whole PCB will go flying off the table.. and your limited by what surfaces you can use the PCB with.
