Gehenna - Favorite Things *New songs* *me rapping*

Post by jp »

Gehenna = a horrorcore rap group consisting of myself (aka Inferis) and my friend Josh (aka Dank).

I do the first verse, Dank does the 2nd verse, Prime 8 does the 3rd verse, and Coldcell does the chorus.

!!!!WARNING: This song contains explicit lyrics and depicts acts of extreme violence. It is not work/family safe and should only be listened to around people who do not take things far too seriously.!!!!

There you go. Enjoy. If the downloads run out, lemme know and I'll put it up again.

I really like the beat. You need to turn the vocals up, it's kinda hard to hear you guys.
Feedback will set you free.

I think this is a link to a better mix:

Also, here is an early version of a song called Paint It Red, I'll probably re-do my full verse though.

since I'm bored at work, here's an old song (not that old, it was done for Halloween) for... whatever reason.

Digital 13 (ft. Inferis and Coldcell) - Inside My Soul
http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2SE8 ... LMAALY7R8S

1st: my cousin J.
2nd: Dank
3rd: Inferis (me)
4th: Coldcell
Chorus: J. and Coldcell

And since its on my work computer (for some reason), here's the first song I ever rapped on (that was finished anyways):

Digital 13 (feat. JP of Infernal Theater) - Lonely (Dank Mix)
http://s44.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2RX2 ... 7AF2I0C0GK

1st: J.
2nd: JP (me)
3rd: Dank
Chorus: Dank

Originally Lonely was an Infernal Theater song (just J. and me), but later when I joined Dank we put out a remix version where he added a verse and did the chorus to hype up our new project (originally J. did the chorus). Eventually I quit Dank so now thats Josh's solo name(and our new group is Gehenna), and at that time I was just going by JP, so I just keep it like that for my earlier songs (Lonely, Nightfall, Maggot Feast, and the few other songs I did under that name). At any rate, since D13 is Dank and J.'s group, they just put that version on their album "The World Changed" and listed me as a guest artist. So thats why its a D13 song and not an Infernal Theater song.

So yes, the groups break down like:
Gehenna (Dank + me) (EP comes out later this month)
Infernal Theater (J. + me) (Promo EP comes out in Oct., full length LP comes out in late '06/early '07
Digital 13 (Dank + J.) (new album coming out soon. Already put out 2 albums and 1 EP)

Why there isn't a group consisting of all 3 us... I really don't know.

Not really sadly. Back when Josh and I started Dank we were going to... but since at that time I lived in Huntsville and he lived in Atlanta, it just wasn't working. He has since moved to Huntsville though, so Gehenna shows are a big possibility.

And I feel fairly certain that Infernal Theater will be doing shows after the album comes out. :)

i think jp should post a pic of himself. whenever i read a post of his, i think of a seven foot reala...

bollocks!!! i had an elaborate plan of making a picture with an overscale reala, and bunches of people fleeing the scene in terror, but paint doesn't even try to be good and i don't feel like switching computers. i am overambitious when it comes to things like that, but just imagine the spectacle it could have been... :?
I have no sig whatsoever.

What is a "reala"?

I hope you won't think me negatively critical but from the recordings I found it fairly obvious that you guys haven't done a whole lot live. As a person with eleven years of experience as a performing hip hop DJ (actually I'm well burnt on the whole thing and haven't bothered in about three years so you might say eight years experience), I would say that you should focus on the live thing first. Grassroots, yo. Again, I'm not trying to be a douchebag here, only trying to provide what I feel is very constructive advice. Captivate the crowd in a room and then captivate the public with a recording. You don't wanna end up like some Corey vs Corey story.

And if you don't know who those guys are, give yourself a pat on the back for successfully avoiding TNL :)

hahaha. Awesome. :)

Actually, if I were to wear a Reala costume, I think I'd be 6 inches off from being a 7 ft. tall Reala.

I think that's the character in jp's avatar, IIRC it's a character from "Nights" on the Saturn.

I would imagine you're right, we should do live stuff. But, for whatever reason, we haven't. Granted, Lonely is like, 5 years old, so that isn't a good representation of IT or anything we do now. If you want I could post the Gehenna "singles" (kinda pointless since half the album is being put up for download this week anyways).

Please rehost the first one, I didn't hear it. I also didn't listen to Lonely as I didn't think it would be relevant to what you're doing now.

Oh, ha. Well, you were right on that. None of us really sound like we did on Lonely. Still a neat little song though.

Anyways:
Gehenna (f. Coldcell and Prime 8 ) - Favorite Things
http://s44.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=172O ... 6YOPMDAOZ1

Gehenna - Paint It Red
http://s44.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1YCA ... KX2LUJYBAM

Coldcell does the chorus for Favorite Things and Prime 8 are the guys at the end. Though I think the song would have been better off without them.

Also, what clued you in that we hadn't done any shows? I'm just wondering if there is something we're doing wrong or a lack of solid delivery or what.

DLing now, thanks.

As far as me knowing about live experience... Um... I can't put my finger on it. I've been performing musically in some capacity since the age of 9 and recording myself and others (many styles of music) since 1994. Also, I live in a big music/audio town. 'Round here everybody and their dog has some sort of wicked recording gear and a couple of my close buddies ( http://www.myspace.com/bigsoundproductions & http://www.columbiacitytheater.com/ ) have very serious full fledged studios. I've done intern type stuff at both studios and did pretty much all of the audio wiring in the Columbia City Theater. In addition to that stuff I've hosted numerous hip hop shows and hip hop flavored open mic stuff as well as having a short lived touring hip hop band.

To say I've been around the block would be understatement. These days though I'm pretty burnt out on hip hop and am fooling around with some serious lowball DIY punk rock n roll.

Bushwick Bill would be proud of those lyrics. I'm outta here. Good luck with that.
