Shinybow SB-5470 Component Switcher

Post by austin532 »

I am in the market for a high quality component switcher with zero signal loss and zero lag and was wondering if this was a good way to go? It seems a little expensive but I'm wondering if it's worth it even though I don't need the duo output. How much bandwidth is recommended for an optimal picture?

Anyone have any experience with this or does anyone have any recommendations for another? $200 would be about my max which is probably way more than I should spend.

I really like Zektor HDS switches and you can frequently get them used at decent prices from eBay.

Completely passive design (except for the second output on the 4.2) and IR learning being the main features that made me get one.

I've got a couple audio authority 1154 switches. They work well and can probably find a used one for around $50. They have digital audio inputs/outputs unlike the shinybow.

Joytech js965c. Big, heavy box with 7 component inputs, 1 output. Has digital display that you can name your inputs with. heavy enough it wont fall behind your entertainment center cause of the weight of the cables. It Comes with a sturdy remote.

ive noticed no signal loss at all. Picture looks great.

As a side note i also have a js965. thats their scart switch.

How much more of a difference do the Audio Authority 1154B models make over the 1154A and the 1154? Neither of them are passive from what I can tell. Should I even bother with passive for that matter?

Anyways I suppose I can live with a slight reduction in signal quality as long as it's not noticeable but no added lag is a must. Zektor and Audio Authority seem like the best way to go. Any other suggestions? I appreciate the help so far.

There isn't much difference between the 1154 and 1154a. I think it was a difference in the case shielding but I'm not 100% sure. Not sure about the differences in the 1154b model.

Passive doesn't touch the signal so less chance for problems there... but it also doesn't boost the signal, so it's not good for longer cable runs.

Check the Audio Authority website, each model should have a manual up with full specs on the first or second page, which will list all sorts of stuff, namely signal-to-noise ratio.
