Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Groove Coaster is an arcade music game that has a healthy selection of game music, even including stuff from Darius and Kiki Kaikai. Pretty fun game, I'll have to go check out the new event this weekend.
Guess with that news we can assume an potential arcade release will for sure be on Nessica.

End of the year?! I can't afford to wait that long! I wanted it sometime in the middle of the year!Furry Fox Jet Pilot wrote:Alert! News incoming! According to this link, what I could understand of it through Google Translate, is that there will be a Raiden music collaboration with Groove Coaster (which I have no idea what it is) starting on 1/22 (which is my birthday so anything Raiden related is exciting!) , and Taito is also mentioned. Also, Raiden V's release date looks to be towards the end of this year.

It seems the website for MOSS is down right now, either that could mean something good or something bad.
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Hopefully they're finally adding a Raiden V banner to the front page. That was conspicuously absent; the teaser site was buried in a tiny link on the Raiden IV OverKill page.

Seeing as they just announced the Caladrius 360 patch the other day this is hopefully just temporary.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
I just came across this on the Raiden Twitter account, a user by the name of takapura29 uploaded these pics of a flyer of Raiden V, or it might be a magazine article. Another tweet by Moss also mentions Microsoft's Xbox One Spring Catalogue, whatever that means. Can anyone here translate what's being said on the flyer? Also notice how the vertical tail fin is now present on the Raiden jet, unlike in previous images.

I'd be fine with it if they didn't call it V & considered it a spinoff.
Moss is just f'n with us. It'll be traditional Raiden.

Maybe it's isometric~ish à la Viewpoint only with a weird angle, judging by the pictures...

Eschatos, Ginga Force and Alltynex Second certainly weren't ruined by their cinematic cameras. MOSS probably won't even go that far. I still doubt we've seen any real screenshots that aren't concept renders.

I trust that it will be traditional as well, and besides just look at the concept art in Raiden III and the Raiden II marquee, those are done in the same angles as these images. I'm sure it's just to show off more of the world environments that will be in Raiden V.8BA wrote:I'd be fine with it if they didn't call it V & considered it a spinoff.

Also, I'm not sure how long this has been up, but there's already a listing for the game on PlayAsia, with text that reads "preorders will be opening soon".

Loving all the gameplay footage we have seen so far.

I'll say it'll be "traditional" with the caveat that it will most likely be vertizontal like Caladrius, since it's also being made for console.

Qute is the only shmup company that I've seen that can pull off crazy camera angles and make it look totally effortless.Pretas wrote:Eschatos, Ginga Force and Alltynex Second certainly weren't ruined by their cinematic cameras. I'll just let Pretas speak for me going forward here!

I still have faith we could get a proper Raiden.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
With all this talk about the gameplay style possibly being changed, I almost forgot about the soundtrack. Hopefully Go Sato has prepared some original beautiful melodic masterpieces for this game, and I hope none of it resembles the garbage of Raiden III's music (with the exception of Stage 1 and 3) or the mediocre by comparison Raiden Fighters series music. I'm stoked to hear new tracks, not arrangements of past tunes (although i would kill to hear a good arrangement of Gallantry from DX)
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Would love a new Raiden. But I don't want to buy an Xbox One just for this game. Hopefully it comes out on other systems too.
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Depends how much of this is funded by MS. If there isn't direct funding there's no way Moss can break even on making the game unless they actually have a timed deal set up - there simply aren't enough XB1 owners in Japan, the system is utterly fucking dead there. Total lifetime sales in the region only just passed 50,000 while the PS4 is on its way to 1.5 million. Even the PS3 outsells it by thousands weekly. Even the PSTV beats the XB1.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
I'm sure that in any case this will eventually come to the PS4 at some point: Raiden 4 came to PS3 (although it took quite sometime), but really MOSS would be stupid not to do the same thing again especially given the dire situation the Xbox one is in over in Japan, and the greater ease of porting compared to the PS3's cell processor.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
At this point, I'd say that preparations are already underway at Microsoft Japan for their permanent exit from the console market, by 2017 at the latest. They didn't even balk when SCEJ straight up purchased exclusive rights to Destiny from Activison. Couldn't say if they'd bother to keep Xbox Live Gold services and video content apps running in Japan beyond that, but I would at least expect they'd maintain the 360 + One game marketplaces and patch downloads indefinitely. I've had to reconsider my conviction to buy a One over a PS4 in light of this.
Considering how quickly Chaos;Child will be losing its Japanese Xbox exclusivity (it will have taken only 6 months, compared to Steins;Gate's 10 months), we could be seeing a similar situation for the Xbox One STGs, especially if Sony decides to swoop in and offer support to the Japanese developers adversely affected by MS's departure. Sony displayed consistent apathy towards traditional STGs through the PS3 generation, but this may have changed with their new "indie" game focus.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
So I had a little chat with Mr. Go Sato on Twitter about his possible involvement with Raiden V's soundtrack. Here's what he had to say.

Based on what I could understand from the translations, we have to wait for an official announcement from MOSS, and that someone else could possible be the composer instead of him. I feel a bit uneasy about this, because without him composing the music, that Raiden vibe in the music is lost. This also leads me to believe that the game is even further behind in development than I thought, since MOSS hasn't told him if he will be composing the music or not, and they might not even gotten to that point yet where they are looking for a composer.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
That's disheartening news. I would no longer be surprised to see Raiden V, Natsuki and Shooting Love Trilogy all enter into extended periods of silent running for months to come, before re-emerging as PS4 or PC games.
Though, I hadn't considered that if Microsoft finally gives up on Xbox in Japan, they may still want to hang onto these games as Windows 10 exclusives rather than losing them entirely to Sony. Much like how they mobilized CAVE to support Windows Phone 7 with an exclusive DDP game, back when MS still gave a shit about that platform. It seems inevitable now that the future of the Xbox brand in all regions is as a Steam-competing PC service, a development standard for cross-compatibility with PC and other devices, or perhaps both.
There will likely be major announcements foretelling this fate at this year's E3. It wouldn't be implausible for them to say that all future first-party Xbox One games will also be available for Windows 10.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
I knew Microsoft courting them in the first place was going to doom the titles and potentially the developers. Releasing the XB1 in Japan was simply disruptive to the Japanese gaming industry, a pointless exercise.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
More speculation here, but the major Japanese publishers (S-E, Bandai-Namco) probably told Microsoft that they wouldn't develop Xbox One versions of FFXV, Kingdom Hearts III, Tekken 7, etc. at all if the system wasn't available in Japan. This may have forced Microsoft's hand to push out a latecomer Japanese launch with a lack of resources, poor promotion and less developer support than it needed.
Then again, there have been a number of Western-only Xbox ports of Japanese games that were exclusive to Playstation in their home country. MGS2: Substance, Castlevania: Curse of Darkness and Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax among them. (Microsoft specifically paid Konami to make Substance on Xbox and to hold back the PS2 release.)
