Air-Dash Contra aka Hardcorp: Uprising had some neat concepts but was really unrefined. I'd very much want a superior sequel to that one since it would legitimately be a new direction for the series while still being very Contra.

Also the "don't milk it" argument I feel is a bit thin for some of these franchises: As a long time fan of Gradius, I'm more than willing to admit that every single game in the series is quite flawed in one way or another. Holds true for Contra to a much lesser extent, and less still to Castlevania (Akumajo Dracula x86 is basically the perfect cv game). Sequels to attempt and further refine some of these games would be very welcome for me.

if the Gradius series will be "revived" (making sequel like Gradius VI or someting else), i think these developers can handle them :

M2 (for old-school STG style)
Treasure (intense action like they did in GV)
G.rev
Inti Creates (?) (if you want Gradius has a "story" or full anime-mecha themed characters)
