I think that people think the Porta Pros are cool actually. I used to wear mine out until I dropped them and they cracked. Never got a negative reaction out of those. Maybe it's that blueish color they have on them that makes people back down a little. Too bad they fit kind of tight on my head and pulled my hair out.
LordHypnos wrote:Speaking of Koss, according to USPS tracking, my PortaPros that I sent in for warranty service arrived in late March and I haven't heard anything from Koss since then, now I'm gonna have to find time to call them, and I'm sure it'll suck
They were really good sounding headphones though, especially for the price
Yeah, none of the Koss stuff I've had was super durable. I've probably blown out three pairs of the 75s over the years. I think it's static that keeps killing them honestly. I don't want to deal with sending them in either.

Picture, in your mind, a clown car, with the clowns

Ok, now instead of clowns, think ANTS. ANTS ANTS ANTS

I was all like "how the fuck are there so many of you in that tiny place"

Nothing damaged, no foul chemicals sprayed indoors, but still annoying.

Also it annoys me how I'm going to mix the sacred and profane here, but...ramen pricing is kind of strange. Eat too much of it and you might end up looking like this guy (did you know there's a "black label" ramen? Nongshim Shin Ramyun Black), and it seems rather strange that a tin of grape leaves or a single can of Redd's mango cider, or heck even a single star fruit, is multiples the cost of a bowl of Top Ramen. On the other hand, it is strange that Nongshim's noodle bowls cost about at much as a single-serving of one of the big brand frozen oriental entrees. Nothing fills a belly like hot water, though.

Edit:

Code: Select all

22:30 mudpEd	oh crap
22:30 mudpEd *gets out fork, punctures edge of plastic wrap to read instructions better*
22:30 mudpEd	instructions: "do not remove, puncture, or vent plastic wrap"

The ESA's official position on keeping no-longer-supported games playable once their creators have abandoned them: no go, because it sounds too much like piracy, and will make everyone think that piracy is suddenly legal.

Ebay's feedback is even more limited than sending a Twitter message. WTF? How am I supposed to leave detailed feedback on an auction if I can't write more than SHIPPING WUZ GUD N FAST?

They don't want you to leave honest feedback. They want as many perfect feedback sellers as possible so that the perceived safety of buying is as high as possible and thus the friction between our wallets and their bank accounts is as little as possible.

Same reason they side with sellers on any issue without extreme evidence, and there is virtually no avenue for a seller to give a buyer negative feedback short of some explicit eBay rules violation.

The sad part is it means the feedback systems are largely nonsense. You don't get any nuance or any understanding if feedback text is limited. I wanted to leave a more detailed positive feedback regarding the Futari BL Another Ver. I purchased, saying that there was initially some confusion over the version of the PCBs he had in stock (i.e. not Japanese Kit as originally stated), but he offered a full refund if I wasn't happy as well as a partial refund on the original bid if I was still wanted to keep, so I was more than happy with the sale.

You basically have to see if the seller's name is discussed elsewhere to find out what their service is really like.

Idiotic comments on my channel:
Chrismario880 wrote:Honestly bro this console^s graphic engine [note: he's talking about a Sega Game Gear] is much more worse than a simply old school commodore 64 has. How could u take a time to play with this crap game even.....Holy mother of God???
Chrismario880 wrote:I think you misunderstood me! I am not judging any console machine I am just telling u my honest opinion about them but at the end of the day it does not change that fact the graphic is so out of date in this game!
Used to I played many games on sega master system on sega mega drive 16 bit as well, Gunstar Heroes was one of my greatest childhood games but I do not care about these old school games any more since their graphic engines are really bad now(to look back at them)besides players must take the speed up with the console game technology, but I understand your theory as well cos seems like u still love these old school machines and games!
Do not worry bro I am not attacking you but first time I saw you played this game with such a graphic I was like: ,,What the hell, how could anyone play with a game with terrible graphic like this one????,,
By overlook u mean disdain right, cos this word is the correct expression for that???
Well that^s right I disdain these machines I am not denying but I strongly guess lot of other people doing the same cos like I mentioned before the console game technology always has been improving so u love the new games but u do not give a damn for old ones cos they are lower capacity junks already!
Apparently the only thing that matters about a game is whether or not it's pretty to look at.

Frankly, I thought the Game Gear had some amazingly colourful and capable graphics considering the era it was made made in. Early full colour handheld made well before something like the Game Boy Color/Advance, it was pretty amazing to play on road trips with AC adapter in hotel rooms, etc. The only downside is the thing chugs through batteries like crazy so it wasn't terribly good in the car, and the capacitors on most of the units that were made need replacing nowadays (mine's in this situation and needs cap replacements to fix the screen).

man, the GG could do some rather nice graphics, I dunno what that guy is going on about
fun fact: the VDP in it is capable of displaying 8x more colors than the Genesis [4096 vs 512], even if it's otherwise the same as the VDP in the Master System
games that take advantage of it [eg, Sonic Triple Trouble] can look pretty great

as a kid, I literally couldn't play the thing without the car adapter, the battery life was truly awful
I kind of wonder how much better it would be with an LED lighting mod. Pretty sure that'd be a significant boost.
also, modern battery technology
Apparently, the caps in the GG are awful and pretty much every system right now that hasn't had them replaced NEEDS them to be replaced.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Put any collector standards to the side for the Alestes, though...I picked up multiple copies and still didn't find one quite to my liking  GG seems worse than the usual in finding good pickings (probably due in part to lower print runs of games). Oh, and keeping the machines themselves running is totally hell.

Am I the only person for whom the PS3 PlayStation store crashes after every purchase? It's been going on for as long as I remember after they revamped the storefront. It's laughable how incompetent the whole thing is, and says a lot about Sony that they never fixed such a severe issue.

The store will sometimes kick me out seemingly at random (the screen suddenly goes to black and a few moments later I'm back at the startup menu); I can get back in, but it is a pain. The system also sometimes takes several tries to perform certain functions, and gives error messages until I've repeated the command a few times. I've never been certain whether the issue was my connection or their setup.

Wondering about "real" vs. "fake" 64-bit programs that do dumb things. Some discussion of that here, don't know how relevant it is to modern software though, but other people are wondering about this too. 64-bit Firefox looks close to drop, at least for dev / beta channels. Fingers crossed!

The cost of retro games lately. I really don't want to pay $100.00 for an SNES, or $40.00 for Super Castlevania IV. (You can get an SNES for cheaper then that, but it'll look like someone's dog peed on it.) But those are the prices on eBay, and that's what I use, given that I don't have any retro game stores that are that close to where I live. Sega Genesis consoles don't cost that much, but the games do. A lot of Genesis games cost what they initially did when they came out!

Honestly, it's not like I'm looking for some rare and obscure console that was only released in Japan. :?

It's even worse when something WAS cheap not that long ago. Salamander Deluxe Pack for the Saturn was about $20~$30 on Amazon about half a year ago when I first bookmarked it. Now it's more like $70! A number of other games have gone up recently, too. One game I was looking at was maybe $15, then it was $60, and now it's more like $30. It's craziness out there.

^One reason I'm glad I picked up Mars Matrix a little over a year ago when it was "only" $50 (my copy cost slightly less than that). Now it looks like people expect to get around $70 for it. Doesn't even look like the J version is much cheaper, either (like it is with GW2).

I think we need more piracy as an anti-speculation mechanism.

Same here!

Anyways, I seriously do not understand people who complain about the unrealistic proportions of a cartoon character. And no, I'm not just talking boob size*, though nothing really says "sperg alert" like pointing out that real people can't have boobs the size of their head without severe back pain etc when looking at what is clearly a fucking joke picture. I mean, come on, when you're taking time out of your day to complain about Cardcaptor Sakura's neck not being thick enough to realistically hold up or head or whatever, you seriously need to get a fucking hobby.
*Complaints about the extreme prevalence of oversized boobs, or their presence in an otherwise realistic work is legit, though.
