Help needed: ArcadeVGA 5000 -> Sony PVM-14N6U

Very new to RGB stuff so bear with me.

I bought a Sony PVM-14N6U along with an ArcadeVGA 5000 in hopes of running games on a CRT. I connected a VGA to 4 BNC cable (this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001UJ ... UTF8&psc=1). When I turn it on, I get a rolling picture (this https://www.flickr.com/photos/53537994@N08/). Is this what happens when a monitor isn't getting full composite sync, or is there something else I should mess with?

Assuming that it is a sync issue, I thought about getting a VGA to 5 BNC cable and a T-adapter. Have many people had luck with this, or should I just go for an Extron RGB interface?

A third option would be a simple adapter with a passive sync combiner circuit. T-Adapter can work, but doesn't have to. Extron interfaces are usually fine, but are not unknown to cause problems with 240p signals.

The Arcadeforge UMSA (or similar units) would be the cleanest and most compatible solution.

Thanks, didn't know Extron units had problems with 240p signals. I think I'll cheap out for now and try the 5 BNC/ T-adapter first.

T-adapter seems to be working without issue. I messed around for a bit in kega. I can't call myself an expert, but I'm pretty happy with what I'm getting: https://www.flickr.com/photos/53537994@ ... 214384502/ (I don't have a real camera).

Thats a nice monitor I have the same one. some people say its clearer than some of the 20" models even though its only 500 lines.

you have to be careful though that you dont set it on anything like a screwdriver or something sitting on your workbench because the bottom of it is plastic and flexible.

There is a board support inside the monitor that can be shoved right through the pcb if the monitor is set on something.

I bought a 20" model and that support got shoved through the board in shipping i guess by the packing peanuts underneath and hard drop. if the bottom was steel theres no way that wouldve happened.
