nes rgb

Post by gimmiegummies »

i got tims rgb board for the nes and i been having some problems.at 1st i hooked up all the correct wiring to my snes multi out and got nothing out of the board after messing with it for a while I'm not sure whats going on. the only way i get video is if i have the 5v and ground connected and going to my multi out. i get no audio and after the 1st level the screen gets distorted and goes away. then i get pal and ntsc flashing from from my scart to hdmi box. like its having sync issues. i have tried all kinds of combinations with the wires and the problem is the same.

What are you using for sync? So you have picture and audio, but it goes out after a while? Possibly an overheating V regulator?

I'm new on here i had all the connections connected to the board but i found out that luma and croma are not needed. this is the nes top loader and jumper j3 and j5 are jumped as well as gnd and 3 on the palette switch. CS# ( composite sync ) is what I'm using its going to pin 9 on the multi out. sorry i don't know how to post pictures on here. there is no audio but i can play the 1st level of mario fine the picture is perfect. halfway on the second level the screen starts to get wavy and disappears. i followed this sitehttp://thesuperfamicom.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html its in spanish but there a diagram on the bottom that i followed its the one that i could find with the most info. pin 3 dosent do anything i have to hook up pin 9 to CS on the board as of right now i have:
5v to pin 9
red to pin 1
green to pin 2
blue to pin 4
gnd to pin 6
CS# to pin 9
some sites say composite sync is pin 3 on the multi out it i connected that to CS and V on the board with no luck
and thats it i was messing with it it was working for about a min then it went off and not it does not work again lol

I'm sorry
i meant 5v to pin 10 on multi out
and CS to pin 9
the console only works for a min max before it gets wave and goes away then all i get is pal and ntsc flashing with a black screen
i also tried it without the 5v and ground not connected and it didn't work
i haven't taken the rf adaptor off but since the rgb board runs on the front loader with it on i dont think that would be the problem

have you tried a different source of sync?

try wiring the multiout csync pin to Sync on luma instead it just might clear up your problem.

It kind of does sound like a sync issue-- are you sure the SCART cable you are using is wired for sync (SCART pin 20) tn pin 3 on the SNES end? You need to make sure that is the case. Some SNES SCART cables are wired to pin 9 (composite video) and use that for sync-- you may need to either re-wire the cable or move your sync on the NESRGB end.

Did you try to connect the composite or SVideo out to a TV or monitor? Does that work?

its the purple thick reto consol acc euro scart from eBay ( 40 dollars i think ) ( the one with the girl in the pic ) I'm guessing its wired to pin 9 since pin 3 does nothing i hooked it up to CS#, V, Y, and C with no luck on anything .. when i got pin 9 from the snes end basically CS#, and luma are the only ones that sync.. but then the screen goes away

what kind of power supply are you using? most of the aftermarket ones are real crappy and can cause all kinds of video issues.

also check your connections between the nesrgb and the nes motherboard

First things first-- you need to check continuity on your SCART cable and verify whether pin 20 on the SCART end is wired to either #3 or #9 on the NESRGB end. Whichever it is wired to, thats the pin you need to make sure your sync (either CS#, PPUV, or Y) is soldered to.
