Darth Darth Darth Darth.
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.
An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.
Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

New trailer today.

at the end.
Having said that I don't think the movie will ever live up to the hype, but I'd love to be proved wrong.

Not bad. The best part was the opening shot with the crashed Star Destroyer.
Question: Does John Boyega exist in this movie just to take off his helmet and look out of breath?

I got goosebumps because I thought he was going to lean on Chewie for support and keel over at any second.
Looks a lot better than expected. Seems like there's actually quite a bit of practical effects--or at least it seemed like it. Wish there wasn't a million "darth-like" evil fucks running around air-strangling people like in every spin-off, but whatevs. Still not optimistic, but this looks already worlds better than the last three turds.

My feelings. I don't think the hollywood system can manage anything like ESB again, but I'd settle for a fun romp with cool characters. Perhaps because Mark Hammil has turned out to be such a magnificent voice actor, he feels right at home in this trailer and I'm starting to actually look forward to 'old luke'. I don't know if I feel the same way about the other actors.drauch wrote: Still not optimistic, but this looks already worlds better than the last three turds.

Remaining cautiously optimistic about this. Trailer looked good.

Looks great. The Episode I trailer looked great too, though.

Where ep 1-3 don't even look like they take place in the same universe.... the new trailer seems to really nail the tone of the original trilogy.

Yes and no. Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are looking a bit long in the tooth lately, but Mark Hamill, sans bushy beard, still looks right for his age. He was brilliant recently as he reprised his role as The Trickster on the new series The Flash (for those that don't know, he played The Trickster in the late 80's TV series The Flash).Moniker wrote:Honestly a little worried about the original cast. The ravages of time haven't been completely kind.
All I can say is, the first teaser was cool, the 2nd teaser was really cool, and I'm dying for a real trailer with some actual footage, not a bunch of 2-second clips sewn together that doesn't give me any indication of what's going on. I feel like Abrams has a shot at pulling this off, and making it a good film. I'll go on record and say that I don't hate the prequels, which is trendy to do, though I do agree that they aren't nearly as compelling or fun as the originals, But in terms of telling the backstory of Darth Vader, they get the job done. However, Episode VII has potential, and I look forward to seeing it when it's released.

Sure, in a fashion so bad it essentially ruins an iconic character.FRO wrote: I'll go on record and say that I don't hate the prequels, which is trendy to do, though I do agree that they aren't nearly as compelling or fun as the originals, But in terms of telling the backstory of Darth Vader, they get the job done.
I never thought hating the prequels was 'trendy', just necessary considering how fucking horrible they are.
That's probably a good reason to mention I re watched all the Plinkett reviews back to back a couple months ago. Still as note perfect, insightful and entertaining as ever. The Citizen Kane analysis is always intriguing because it represents two very similar building blocks of simple plot structure in two polar opposites of skill and craftsmanship.
I like to think Plinkett had some direct influence in Lucas selling Star Wars to Disney.

Trailer seems ok. Nothing particularly good or bad about it. It really left nearly zero impression on me, which is a bit odd.

Absolutely. We'd call this "going outside the story". Prequels by their nature are awful - you had a narrative the audience was invested in, then you're going to jackknife backwards completely outside of it? To tell a tale with the outcome already known?"No characterization/backstory is better than bad characterization/backstory"
We care a little about what Darth Vader does while he's inside the suit. The suit is cool. Do we care about the person inside the suit?

Real movies that matter instead of this weird obscure niche stuff noone knows about.

An ex girlfriend took me to see the second prequel and it was me who fell asleep, she wasn't pleased but then she never was half the time - the miserable bipolar cunt.
I loathe those boring piles of shit (which I felt obliged to watch), but I do quite like the last ten mins of the third. Optimism for this one.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: Cast Unveiled...slated for 12/18/
Went to go see the 3D version of "The Avengers: The Age of Ultron" flick today (5/01/2015) and lo behold, Lucasfilm Ltd. debuted it's full length 3D theatrical trailer of "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" in it's entirety. By the end of watching it, it brought tears to my eyes...waiting the damn thirty years for it, was well worth the wait. There was no mention of Episode VII being presented in 3D since the debut of the teaser theatrical trailer on the day after Thanksgiving of 2014 (it is) but well worth the added price of watching a 3D movie just view it properly. So Luke Skywalker and Leia are aged 53 in this latest SW episode, indeed (considering that it takes place thirty years after the events shown in RoTJ). The hulking and decrepit remains of the Galactic Empire 30 years later, is still quite vivid as shown in the detailed background scenery in one key scene.
Sure, it would've been cool if the old Lucasfilm Ltd. had created an Episode VII movie and released it on the silver screen back in May of 1986 with the same cast and film production crew to tell the further adventures of the Skywalker saga (of course, it would've been a very different story if it was "green-lit" back in the day). Could the ol' ILM crew have outdone themselves (with the practical special FX shown in RoTJ) in this newfangled '86 version of Episode VII? Perhaps, in an alternate 1986 universe, it was made and released. Mr. Lucas did envision a possible twelve episodic film venture to tell of the Skywalker saga (but it'll be just a 9 episode film series at best with Disney at the helm this time around).
Upon checking out the digital d/l version of the 1997 Special Edition version of RoTJ, it was such an unexpected pleasure to watch the rare "deleted scenes" that were briefly mentioned in the Star Wars Inside magazine in their entirety. Well worth the asking $19.99 USD to view 'em. In one key filming scene, you can clearly see the clapper marked with the "Revenge of The Jedi" moniker and a date stamp that says February 18th, 1982.
May the Force be with you.....

I heard Fox was behind the ewoks. They wanted to cater to a younger audience and the original script called for wookies instead.
This may or may not be true, but Fox has done some stupid shit in the past so I wouldn't be surprised if it were.

HOW MUCH does Lucas have to fuck up for you to finally stop trying to shift the blame for all his mistakes? It's like pretending that Willow, Howard the Duck, and Red Tails never happened.
