Hey everyone! I've read posts here from time to time over the years, and joined since it seems like with all the experts, someone might be able to help me fix an issue I'm having with my new PVM. There's a flicker that I see when it's running. It's far more noticeable on white and/or lighter color screens. I was worried it might be my SCART selector or SCART cables, so I hooked my SNES up via s-video and got the same flicker. I wasn't sure if I was describing it correctly, so I made a Vine so you can (hopefully; the quality isn't great) see what I am talking about.
Any advice on fixing this would be greatly appreciated! The monitor was shipped via FedEx, so I'm just hoping there isn't some internal damage that I can't see.

Have you tested another source besides the Super NES?

Via s-video, no. But it's happening with both my SNES & Saturn when connected through SCART.

Definitely try another source just to rule the cables out.
In the meantime, double-check the front panel knobs: Put contrast to its neutral setting (straight up), and pull brightness back a ways from neutral (ideally, as far back as is still usable, or at least until blacks lose any kind of tint). I can't guarantee you that's relevant to your issue but it might change that behavior (hopefully improving it).
How used does the monitor look? Getting inside a PVM-20L2 is also not difficult at all, just find the screws on the back and the cover lifts off in one big piece. Service, if it's needed, should be relatively simple; this doesn't seem like the kind of problem that's not repairable.

I did play with these, but I am going to hook up another source tonight or tomorrow and do a little more just in case.Ed Oscuro wrote:Definitely try another source just to rule the cables out.

The monitor looked to be in very good condition. I replaced a nice looking one that I got locally with this one, and the new one seems in nicer physical condition. It was shipped tube down, strapped with foam on the screen, and wrapped in about 20 pounds of bubble wrap. Is there anything in the service menu that might help? I'm not gonna lie, I'd be pretty scared to open it haha. How used does the monitor look? i have the same monitor, A few months ago i started a topic about a similar issue
http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=49325
video of my issue

i send my monitor to repair and tech just open it and did routine maintenance (i pay 10 dollars) he told me he didn't find any issue , i notice o maybe it was coincidence after getting back my PVM i started using a different power cord, since that day i haven't had the issue again.

This is very interesting. I ended up using the cord from my 20L1 instead of the cord that came mailed with my 20L2. Maybe I'll try a different cord and see if that helps.YONKE wrote:i notice o maybe it was coincidence after getting back my PVM i started using a different power cord, since that day i haven't had the issue again.

mabeye a thicker guage cord. some cheap IEC cords just seem to be made way too thin for power hungry things like PC's and CRT monitors.

I tried a different cord I had around, didn't seem to fix the problem, but I wasn't sure that it would given the cord I had was fine for my 20L1 and I didn't have any of the jittering. I might try to call around to see if there's a place around here who is familiar with how these work.
