"SUCH MARVELS AS THESE SHOULD RAISE THE WIND!" (ditto, this is just two lines)
Exactly the same kind of story hook as you get in modern clearance sales, but I like the openness of that age, when you'd actually put in a newspaper the (purported) details of your business dealings. Obviously nobody would do that today.

Oh, and the story above the article is all about Murder Bay in Washington D.C., former site of the famous Hooker's Division, modern site of the Federal Triangle.
