Damn... you're just going to miss me, by like a couple of weeks. Seeing as how we're not able to use any miles due to us leaving the day before a Japanese holiday (oops) another trip in the summer could happen. We'll see though. Sometimes I wish my bosses would quit paying me so I could move back... would keep the wife off my balls too (in the bad way, that is).

How long RU going for? Got a job sorted?

I'm going to school and I'll likely be there for about a year. If I end up loving it I'll try to stay longer, depending on my funds of course.

Being a student is fun. Just make sure you're single. Be careful though. I ran out of money every month my first year. Was embarassing having to ask my parents to spot me from 5,000 miles away a few times.

Would love to study again. Marriage kind of rips that whole card up, other than studying on your own. I assume a kid would make it even harder.

looks like many of your are taking japanese.

I'm currently halway into my first year of intensive intro. We've learned about 50-60 kanji, and are supposed to know 150 by the end of the school season.

I was surprised to find my class populated by 11 chinese, and only 6 canadians.

^ Surprised be not because it's easier for Chinese to learn Japanese than most other people. Though, strangely, I was the only chinese in my last japanese class. Maybe they're in higher classes.

Why did I think you were Spanish or Mexican?

My parents are Chinese and so am I because I was born in Hong Kong. However, I wasn't raised in Hong Kong. My mum and dad moved to the Dominican Republic (of all places) when I was a kid, so I am fluent in Spanish and sometimes do crappy imitations to throw you guys off.

I'm up to about 500 kanji now (just recognizing, writing is another matter.) Can anyone recommend me some good intermediate level books?
