What can ye do?!

Post by MovingTarget »

Since my TV is bust, I decided to take up again an old hobby a mine, this is for an online graffiti battle. Who can do the best 'mech'... What you think?

Looks great! However I think that there are too many extraneous lines that may confuse those that just quickly glance at it. I quickly looked at it and it looks like 'mench' and I wouldn't have known otherwise if you hadn't pointed it out. Since you are entering the piece into a competition the judges are most likely going to browse over all of the submissions quickly. I would make the word 'mech' much more defined by using a much darker color in the background. Overall though I love your style.

BTW what name do you tag with?
What more can I say I wouldn't be here today if the old school didn't pave the way.

Cheers :D

Call me paranoid, but I'd rather not display the name I use :P

edit: I agree with what you said about using a dark background, but its a lot of ink and effort

Can't read the word, but it's indeed nice. Can you do me a nice big Randorama graffiti, btw?

Thanks in advance for any response

Oh man, I love that. Can't stand people complaining about stuff like that along the railway/subway tracks. Livens up my journey anyway. Too bad I don't have any graphical skills myself. Just tagging without being able to set a respectable piece gets boring quickly.

If you make a pretty R-Type inspired piece on some canvas I can make a donation to your shmup fund

Nice wildstyle.

It's not meant to be read by the masses though. Not really the point.

That was one thing I always liked on my train rides to chicago - looking at all the graffiti. There are alot of very talented artists out there.

It also makes waiting for freight trains to go by a more pleasant experience.

Nice job MovingTarget. Like a few of the others, I can't make out the main words :)

Its on paper using copic marker pens, the colouring was a wee bit rushed, some of the stuff that is done with these pens is incredible.

Last Guardian - I would also be up for doing an r-type canvas, it would be awhile though as I'm short of materials, dont have to pay me though I'd be up for a trade.... Thing is I wouldnt know how to send a canvas, could imagine it gettin haggard in the post...

Landshark - Some of the spraypainting at big Jams I've seen have inspired me far more than any other medium has ever done. The skill and scope of imagination is truly humbling.

And I appreciate the praise everyone :D

You're welcome ;)

Btw, there's no need to send it though, we'll come to pick it up. (That sounds cool, hehe).
My kid brother studies in Phoenix, Arizona for the coming six months and my little sister travels between NYC and Amsterdam all the time - I'm sure they don't mind a little detour and some extra luggage. Whether I have anything usefull up for trade is an entirely different matter....

It would be quite a big detour though, I live in Scotland, almost 100 miles from the nearest town, and about the otherside of the country from the main airport... I would be willing to go to the nearest town but it might be quite difficult for you to get there.

Currently workin on an rtype sketch for practice, and a randorama thing in macromedia fireworks.

Damn, thought I had you in cornered there. Scotland eh ? That new years eve festival in Edinburgh is still on my 'things to do before I die' list but that's quite a while from now. Ah well, just make sure to show us the final result
