I couldn't tell the gender of a coworker. There is a person who has been here for months, has kind of a Justin Beiber look, does not wear form-fitting clothes but rather long-sleeved shirts and trousers, and has an uncommon name which doesn't really provide any clarity to the issue. Keeping a mental tally of the number of times I have heard others use the feminine pronoun vs. the masculine one, by now there are significantly more votes for "she," so I guess the question is settled, but FFS... LOL

True, but it's especially frustrating when the BS comes from a superior at work - if you're going back and forth with some schmo you can call him out on his feeble attempts at verbal jiu-jitsu without much fear of reprisal, but with a supervisor you'll wind up being disciplined for insubordination (one of the most deplorably abused words in the English language), and then have your more spineless, subservient co-workers saying "why can't you just let it go?" afterwards, which only makes it worse.

Nasty rain outside and I need to take the dog out to pee one last time before we go to bed. I use online weather radar to track the cloud movement and pinpoint when the eye of the storm is over my house. I take the dog out and sure enough the rain has subsided, so I run him to a tree and give him the pee command.

But he's not interested in peeing just yet, he wants to look for rabbits, sniff around for interesting garbage on the ground, listen for car sirens...

...and so the eye of the storm passes and we get soaked by the time his majesty decides he's ready to pee on something.

RPGs with lots of playable characters, but that have one mandatory person you can't swap out just because, meaning you can't play with a specific team of your choosing. It's one thing for party members to actually leave the party temporarily for plot reasons, but if I have eight characters in a four-party game, please don't lock one slot to a specific member. It makes it more difficult to experiment with unorthodox parties.

FF7 and FF8 do this, a large number of the Tales games arbitrarily force certain characters to be present in specific fights (Symphonia loves to shoehorn Lloyd and Sheena into battles, Vesperia forces Yuri into a number of fights).

Hey, at least Yuri is a usable, non-shitty character. The boss fight that mandated Karol is what got me to rage, especially the first try at it as I didn't have his skills/equipment/artes/etc set up. (I mean, if you're going to force me into the menu before battle to put him in the party, could you at least let me set his shit up while I'm at it?)

What bugs me more than locked slots is not being able to frequently switch characters in and out and/or unused characters not getting any exp/ap/etc. It really discourages trying other characters/teams. It's pretty nuts that 10 was the first Final Fantasy where you could use the whole party in a battle, even if not all at once. I mean, what are the other guys doing when you're not using them in the other games?

Karol is really hard to use unless you know what you're doing. Reaper Knock spam is the way to go for that fight. The problem is Karol's best abilities are all found right at the end of the game (Steel Defense is absurdly powerful and makes him a tank, his vastly upgraded healing smashes can only be learned very late game). Karol's unusual in that he kinda sucks the first time you play through, but he's amazingly good in a 2nd playthrough with his abilities carried over.
