I've had this PlayStation S-video cable a while and apparently haven't ever used it. I can't get the Chroma to work (black and white images) across a CRT tv and a PVM on my PSX, PSOne, or PS2 Slim. I've checked the conductivity of the cable itself and the chroma and video ground pins appear to be connecting properly.
Is there a way to check with a multimeter if the s-video pins are working properly while it's plugged into the back of a running system? e.g. resistance or voltage across the chroma and ground?
I have a misbehaving S-video cable.

Maybe dirty pins on the playstation's output port itself causing a weak connection.

most console video connectors can be scraped of corrosion by insterting and removing the plug about 10 times. Same goes for controller ports.
electronic contact cleaner also works.

Turns out there's a short in the cable. Now I get to decide to buy a new one or try to find the short. Yay
