Time Crisis 4 is on test in Japanese arcades right now - will be released Summer 2006. It's using the System 258 board - same board that runs Tekken 5 and Tekken 5 Dark Ressurection. System 258 is very modestly beefed up PlayStation2 technology, whereas the System 246 board that runs Tekken 4 and Time Crisis 3 had basicly the exact same power as the PS2.
Time Crisis 4 is introducing a new gameplay system
New system is the screen change ability. At certain points in the game, arrows will show up on the screen, and you can point your gun towards the direction and look that way. Gameplay example, sometimes you can hear your teammate calling for help. You can look in the direction where the enemies are firing and provide support fire.
no word on a PlayStation2 or PlayStation3 home release - but since the slightly obscure Crisis Zone arcade game from 1999 made its way home to PS2 in 2004, I have NO doubt Time Crisis 4 will come home to PlayStation - it is just a matter of it being on PS2 or PS3. my guess is PS2.
Now's the time to get one. They're on special. I got mine for 40 . I should warn you that it takes some pushing force to push the thing down, in case you're the couch potato type.
BTW, mine came with a extension cord.

I got the PAL PS2 version of Crisis Zone (I loved the arcade version and wasted loads of quarters during Summer 2000! ) but I could not stand the PS-2 version due to the fact that every time you would shoot with the G-Con 2 gun the whole screen would get filled up with grey myst/smoke from the gun shots resulting in a very frustrating visual experience!
Quite awful really!
There was no option to turn of the smoke whilst using the gun either, the only way to do it was to play the game with the joypad which sucks, especially when I bought the gun for the sol purpose of living up to the arcade experience.
Can you turn off the irritating gun smoke while using the G-Con2 in the US & JPN versions of Crisis Zone?

I don't think it's really smoke ... the screen has to brighten for the light gun to determine the aim point.
It brightens up, but it's different than in other gun games. In this game you literally have a smoke effect going on when you're shooting, which kills your visibility. In normal gun games you get a fast flash per shot.
BTW, there's an option in the options menu that when turned on (or off I don't remember) will reduce the amount of smoke.

That option in the menu does not eliminate the smoke. I tried it.
So, is it the same for the US & JPN versions?
I think I'll just have to buy the Arcade cabinet to play it properly. Plus the guns are heavier.
