Your worst nightmare?

Post by JBC »

Last night I dreamed I was drunk driving & blacked out. Then I'm handcuffed to a hospital bed & a nurse is wheeling me out of an ICU. We pass by a mirror & there's blood all over my face & my hair is everywhere. She's on the phone & says, "He's got a few broken bones & we had to stitch him up. Mr *real name withheld* is in jail but we'll be treating him over the next month until his hearing."

She wheels me out into a hall & my mom and dad are there. I said "What happened momma?" & she goes "Bad things baby, you did a bad thing." Then I saw these crying people staring me down & knew it was a family I had hit or something.

I wished I was dead. The feeling was so horrible I woke up immediately & all day I've been thankful it wasn't real.

I don't drive under the influence irl because of this same fear. I think I had the dream because my friend's daughter recently had a bad wreck & yesterday I saw the car sitting in his driveway. It was violently totaled & she's lucky to be alive.

Also, recently my neighbor died when his tire blew out on the way home. It flipped his truck & broke his neck.

I've had some pretty bad dreams before, but this was the worst. What's yours?

When I was about four I dreamed that oranges were coming to get me. Something weird about how the orange peel would rip open and form a wierd mouth. Anyway, the whole world had been eaten so I had to walk home from playschool on my own. There were orange peels strewn everywhere so I knew the oranges were nearby... Then I came around the corner and boom! - An orange was right there.

When I was about 18 I had an extremely vivid dream that Laserbeak was in my back yard. It was one of those lucid dreams but I was constantly trying to make myself wake up to check if I was dreaming but I couldn't. Very real.

Living my last years broke, alone, and disabled somehow. Elderly people depress the shit out of me.

Back when I was in college around 2008 I had the most vivid nightmare of my life. I dreamt of my own death.

There wasn't much of a plot involved. I remember I was sitting in a chair restrained. The worst part about this dream was that I could "feel" it somehow, I felt the cold metal of a handgun on the back of my skull, and experienced the bullet plunging through my head in what felt like slow motion. I remember feeling like I had a headache, and a very hot burning sensation running slowly throug the middle of my head starting at the back and ending around my right eye. I can't really describe what I was feeling as pain though, more like heat and pressure. I remember my vision flashing into bright colorful light and then darkness expanding from the center of the light like black ink as the pressure in my skull became increasingly heavy. After everything went totally black I awoke in a cold sweat feeling deeply disturbed.

I felt bad for a week or so after that, like depression or something. It was a very very strange dream and I've never had an experience even remotely similar to it again. It was almost as if I were possessed by something or shown a vision. My only explanation is that it was caused by an unusually high amount of stress as a result of being in a very bad relationship under significant financial hardship at the time. That or it was mind spiders.

The other way around; reality as I perceive it is enough of a nightmare already, so actually I wish I could wake up and say "Phew... ok that was just a nightmare, everything's alright !"

The emo stuff aside and to stay on topic, I'd say the worst nightmare for me at this time of my life would be taking the newspaper in tha morning and read the headline:

" THE WORLD IS OUT OF COFFEE. FOREVER "

Funny you should mention road-related accidents, 8BA. I once dreamt I was in a car with my family as it went ridiculously fast down and then flung off an elevated highway. As a result of feeling the freefall motion in the dream I woke up not-quite-screaming poised upright. :?

Had a dream about what happened after death yesterday. Basically was in the hunger games for some reason except in this hunger games a partner and I had to guess these people and we failed and then they threw us off a skyscraper. So basically everything was dark always and I uh got to play certain nintendo games that I can't remember.... that's apparently all I could do though, for pretty much eternity in total darkness. I wanted life back immediately hahah. Better than some visions of the afterlife at least?

a few:

- a tribal setting where people were mourning the death of a man. the mans mother then proceeds to pour some kind of hot liquid on her daughter-in-laws face, which starts burning slowly and begins smoking and slowly melting exposing the skull beneath.... then i woke up.

- There was one where i woke up in the dream to find that an entire section of the city had been opened up as a hunting zone. Human hunting zone. with my house right in the center of it. so me and my room mate, try to investigate and find resources, gather up survivors, find my cousin along the way. we start digging trenches and prepare for the hunters to come. When the hunters do arrive, they have guns and landmines, we start guerilla tactics warfare with them, taking out a few of them and alot of us dying. Me and my cousin are the last to remain, and we some make are way to the edge of the reserve, and thats when a helicopter starts following us, and i wake up.

- also, dad passed away in 2013. i kept having dreams where he would be alive, then i would start crying and telling him that he is dead and its a dream, usually that would wake me up.

- lots of death/gore dreams i cant/dont want to remember.

I watched waking life as a kid, and picked up how to remember dreams and lucid dreaming from it

I've had dreams where I committed this terrible crime. It's so vivid that when I wake up in think in jail. Then I realize I'm not and I'm really glad I didn't actually do any of that stuff.

I once dreamed i was walking up some stairs in the old house my father grew up in, when suddenly i see myself on my bed and some kind of bluish shadow starts waving around me. I scream "No! Go away!" in both my dream and while sleeping (guess it's called a livid dream?), and wake up felling tired as hell. Next morning my grandmother calls saying a neighbour old lady that we all knew (she left some money to me, my sister and my cousins, no family...) died on her nursing home. I was kinda scared, but forgot about it. Later that day, my sister said she woke up with pains on her wrist, like someone twisted it. Never told her or anyone about this. Coincidences are something else, eh? :)

Bonus story: On the same night, i dreamed a dolphin was on the bathtub, my mother dreamed a bear was inside our chicken coop, my father that he couldn't stick a knife inside a pig he was slaughtering, and my sister was kissing a spider (she has arachnophobia). What a humorous lunch that was...
edit:We each dreamed that, not just me.

I had a dream a month or so ago that I got home and found peanut shells all over the house. I heard someone upstairs and it was my boss. He kept on marching around the room and kept saying "She just kept doing my head in, she just wouldn't stop". I went downstairs and got a black liner from under the stairs (for the peanut shells), one was already detached from the roll. I felt a bit of weight to it.. something was in it. I peered inside and saw my moms decapitated head roll out. My boss was at the top of the stairs still saying "She just kept doing my head in, she just wouldn't stop".

I woke up at that moment.
