Super Emotia problem

Hi everyone, long time lurker here. I'm at my wits end and I was hoping somebody has experienced this issue.
I recently bought a Sony pvm 2530 and a super emotia for some 240P loveliness. But no matter what I do, the emotia input leds alway stay solid on 2 and 3. The manual says this is a weird resolution that I'm definitely not running, and they are on even when nothing is connected to the input. I'm guessing when nothing is connected they should be blank? I am trying to run a pc at 640x480x60hz into it, and the cable seems good because I have a monitor connected to the output of the emotia which is working. Do you think my emotia is just broken somehow?
Any help would super appreciated!

Try cycling the power on the Super Emotia while you are sending the resolution to it. I once had one that would not sync/recognize the res straight away, but if you cycled the power while the video was being sent to it, it would sync up and work.

What kind of sync signal is the Emotia expecting, H/V or composite? Better verify you are providing it with what it wants.

Kamiboy I'm not sure what you mean, as input it takes a vga signal. All the guides I've read about it say just plug your pc into it at 480 resolution, I don't think it needs a separate sync? I've tried outputting both svideo and composite as I don't have all the bnc cables for rgbs yet.

I noticed that the power supply is making a kind of repeating click noise, and the leds very slightly flicker in sync to it. Anyone smarter than me know if that sounds like it would cause this?

That doesnt sound right-- you should try to check the pins on the power supply plug with a voltmeter to see if the voltage is correct and present. If need be, you can use a PC power supply to power the Extron.

I actually had to do this with my original Extron to get it working.

Thank you all, it lives! I did have to build a power adaptor. Serves me right for paying extra for one with the power adaptor included



Has a few geometry problems and a weird bright spot on black screens, but other than that it looks fantastic. Definitely livable for something from 1992.

It's still just through S-Video while I wait for a million cables. (Stupid CMPTR port and BNC jacks)
