Purchasing B1 Poster Frames

Post by CarsonDaly516m4 »

Hello,

A friend of mine that goes by 445 told me this forum is a good place to ask about poster frames.

I am looking to purchase around 5-10 size B1 frames for my Bemani posters and 445 is interested in buying some as well. Does anyone here know of a reliable and affordable place to purchase these? Is anyone else interested from the New England area to go in on this purchase?

I could probably do this. What style are you looking for / how much are you wanting to spend for each?

Or you go to your local Michael's and inquire about custom frames for them B1 frames -- it helps to have a discount coupon for a 40% to 50% off the custom framing.

Unless things have changed a lot, this is a pricey request in the US. Dave_K. had an alternative that worked pretty well, but God knows what page that's on by now.

I believe the alternative that Dave used are those clip things to sandwich two pieces of plexi(?) or other clear sheets together.
While it works and is cost effective, the posters inside warp (accordion) over time since the clips don't hold the pieces tightly enough.

Well that's no bueno.

I'm not 100% positive (rancor can check) but I believe the only way to send these frames from Japan to the US is via freight. There are size restrictions, and I think a B1 poster hits it right on the nose at 1m on the longest side. They're posted online if someone wants to check. BTW - the restrictions are set by the receiving cuntry, but the Japanese side checks this vigorously.

I wouldn't really know off hand the typical price for a frame. I guess I would compare whatever options I have and go with the best one. I have one of my posters B1 framed already (And I'm pretty happy with it) so I'll take a couple pictures of it tomorrow after work and post them here and you can tell me what style it is.

I bought a B1 frame not too long ago off of amazon Japan for a G Darius poster, and it ran me around 4000-5000 yen. It was the cheapest available, very basic black plastic frame, but who the hell is looking at the frames anyhow? Like GaijinPunch says, it's the shipping that's gonna murder you.

Completely forgot to post those images:

So basically it was custom-made at Michaels but it cost a lot to make just one (I paid $350 for this poster as is, doesn't help that this particular poster is a hard find too).

Have you checked AliExpress? Shipping's still gonna be a pita, but maybe less so than buying from Japan. Also these wall clips Mono got for his place are pretty slick (and probably less expensive to ship).

The clips do hold the poster in place, but only at the edges. Since I didn't mount/glue the posters to the foam backing, it starts to sag in the middle due to the size weight of the poster itself. I usually rotate my posters, or reseat them every few months to get the sagging out, but I've been lazy and haven't done it now for like 3 years. I don't think there is any permanent damage to the poster itself, its just the slight buckling and florescent lighting in my garage really exaggerates the effect.
