Hucast not shipping internationally (update: they do now)

Post by eatdogs »

Please correct me since I haven't been on here in quite some time. I do a check on the Hucast site about once or twice a month. It now says that they only ship to EU countries now. Gosh, I pre-ordered Ghost Blade back in 2013. I emailed them to see what the heck is going on and if they'll still ship to me here. If not I asked for a full refund. I'm disappointed either way really. This will most likely be the last game I get from them, if I'm lucky enough to get it anyway. Beware people...

Going by the latest post in their blog, all preorders made prior to the announcement will be honored. At least that's what I deduct from this enigmatic paragraph:

"However, all your hucast orders and pre-oders are SAVE. There’s no further action from you to be taken. All our games will be still REGION FREE."

Restrictions start on May 1.

Hmm... well I guess we'll see then. Thanks for the info.

Hucast really is turning into a bunch of clowns, shipping internationally is easy, and all they are doing is reducing their customer base. Sure you might be able to buy Hucast games from other retailers at a higher price, but that will stop some people.

Ship what?... :)... But seriously... Hucast are basically just indie hobbiests right?... I'm sure they have their reasons and wouldn't seek to marginalise anyone. They've probably had enough bum experiences that they just want off the hook for international (re)shipping... I'm sure they'll supply a reseller or two... Maybe even done some kind of a promo deal or two... Or just some dude who lost his temper :p They should just have communicated their reasons better..

Not the end of the world. It says you can still order form Play Asia.

Well, there is the discount they promised for all future orders on their website, for original customers (I forget the exact requirements). Which I've definitely used before. So obviously I won't be able to take advantage of that in future. It's a shame and seems just a little petty, especially when the latest NG.DEV.TEAM email newsletter mentions how good the US to EUR conversion rate is currently and how US customers can take advantage of that. But whatever, they're a business and have to make money to continue making games, so if it's not working out for them for any reason, that's that.

NG:Dev.Team is not the same thing as Hucast. Different companies (that share one staff person, afaik), different games, different online stores. NG:Dev will still sell their games to US.

This just got posted on FB:
Hucast wrote:Dear customers, after we have received lots of criticism we decided to still ship to non-EU territories. So HUCAST is shipping to USA and Canada after all. I want to apologize for the inconvenience.

From HuCast:

Everybody who backed up this project will receive a update disc for 5,60 EUR including shipping cost world wide. The price is the same for ever country.

Update from HuCast:

Send 5,60 EUR to sales(a)hucast(dot)com to order the disc, shipping world wide. (**All 1.1 Discs are sold***)

Guess Rene's definition of "everybody" is different than mine. Oh, well. And I was one of the Kickstarter backers of the project.

This kind of continued nonsense has only made me leery of supporting their efforts, as I skipped Dux 1.1 altogether, but purchased everything before that point (everything, though, being variations of Dux in different types of packaging).

Hucast and ng dev team are a total waste of time. There games are very depressing and often have bugs in them which they later fix at your expense. I can honestly say I have not enjoyed one of there games for the dreamcast and I have nearly all of them. I stopped buying from them after redux.

I suggest others do the same.

Hucast...meh. I bought Dux (and 1.5), Redux (and the 1.1 is coming). They're ok, but not amazing games. On the other hand, I quite enjoyed NG DEV's games (Neo XYX, Razion and Gunlord on the Neo).
