Nice. Hoping for a retail release, but not holding my breathe...
Was the Japanese version region-locked?

What a weird decision for localization.
Bets on this actually happening?

Yeah, Shooting Love 200X is a region-locked release, so this would be good for westerners without a JP 360 to pick up.Doctor Butler wrote:Nice. Hoping for a retail release, but not holding my breathe...

Too bad it's Europe only
Speaking of Triangle service, I need to pick up a copy of Shooting love 10th anniversary sometime: I'll probably ask Rancor about it...

My prediction is that it's gonna be the Games on Demand version dumped onto the Euro XBL Marketplace without any localization work, like the American release of Deathsmiles IIX.
Whoever is behind this - probably Rising Star - really should have waited for the Shooting Love Trilogy bundle on Xbox One.

200x also has the shmups skill test, which is a collection of related minigames. It's a fun little distraction.

Yes please. I love me some Triangle Service but haven't played Exzeal because of the region lock on the 360 release. Are there any differences to Trizeal for that release, probably save for a bit of extra graphical polish?
Or I'll have to wait for it on Xbone and deal with needing a new arcade stick or get daisy chaining adapters. But this would be much easier, from an entirely selfish European point of view!

You're forgetting the convenience of having the complete Triangle Service library accessible from a single menu, which is what SL Trilogy will be.TransatlanticFoe wrote:Or I'll have to wait for it on Xbone and deal with needing a new arcade stick or get daisy chaining adapters. Spending an extra $500 or so and having another console to manage your space around makes that sound like a net loss of convenience. But we can discuss localization of the collection when it sets and meets a release date.
In the meantime, I suspect this release is costing nearly nothing to license for overseas distribution, which was probably a big draw for whoever's behind the rumored western release.

I'd be wary of recommending any XBone vaporware at this point based on PEGI ratings. RFA had PEGI ratings IIRC, look where that ended up. Note also the obvious possibility of new bugs being introduced as well. Cave did it all the time and they were a multi-man company.
Pretas has a point on 200X for Europe likely being a GoD thing but I have my doubts about it being from Rising Star. Yes, they've done a few shmup releases but their site isn't even acknowledging Deathsmiles and DDP:R anymore. FWIW I hope I'm wrong.

XBone is region free though, so no need to worry about localization. True on the possibility of bugs, but it seems like their track record is ok so far (couldn't say that with certainty though).BPzeBanshee wrote:I'd be wary of recommending any XBone vaporware at this point based on PEGI ratings. rising star did tweet a little while ago about shmups, checking interest etc.BPzeBanshee wrote:I'd be wary of recommending any XBone vaporware at this point based on PEGI ratings. Re: Shooting Love 200x is getting a western release for xbox
I missed the tweet, had I known I would've certainly replied as while I've been worried about some aspects of their distribution efforts and porting work they've generally listened and came good. I do hope I'm wrong about being pessimistic about this, but it just seems like a strange title for Rising Star to bring over. I would've thought they would go with yet another Cave title as they've done games from them before and Cave probably need the money.
On the flip side though, they don't usually cheap out doing straight-over GoD stuff like DSII, and there wouldn't be much in translation work since basic stuff like the menus are already in English. Change the title screen, Englishify the description texts in the menus and the little instructions that show up in Shmup Skills Test that tell you what the fuck you're supposed to be doing (that I can't read and therefore fail hard on things like 'get the <moonrune> colored orb'), *hopefully* fix the bug concerning leaderboard replays that 10th Anniversary also had IIRC.

Re: Shooting Love 200x is getting a western release for xbox
CAVE has no interest in Western markets anymore. They already bowed out of the mobile game marketplace in US/EU. Nor does Rising Star have any remaining interest in CAVE, after losing money on two of their games in a row.
Rising Star was definitely pursuing a Western release of SDOJ at some point, which would have led to the JPN version being region-locked, but one or both of the companies bailed on it. At least CAVE graciously removed the region lock after that matter was concluded.

Already got the Japanese release, but I would love a localized version of it. Hopefully it's retail, cause GonD games aren't easy to download from a different region.

Re: Shooting Love 200x is getting a western release for xbox
Last August the Rising Star Games release of Under Defeat appeared without any fanfare on the US Xbox 360 marketplace - this may be an indication that costs for selling digital content over the Xbox 360 marketplace are at an all time low. As the localization cost should be minimal it would make sense for Rising Star Games to distribute it through all the regional stores typically used by them - especially given that 200X is a release for a previous generation platform where one would expect the window for any sales to close sooner than later.
Whether they are using this to send up a balloon about a "Shooting Love. Trilogy" Xbox One localized digital release is anybody's guess. If there is going to be a localized digital release of "Shooting Love. 200X" then it's going to happen because it's cheap to do so. What concerns me is that part of their interest is probably based on the fact that "Shooting Love. 200X" is region locked. For a last generation release it would almost make more sense to dump the whole "Shooting Love. Collection" on the western marketplace - but of course that could potentially interfere with future (digital) "Shooting Love. Trilogy" sales.
Frankly I don't know if I want Rising Star Games to be interested in "Shooting Love. Trilogy" as that may provide an incentive for Triangle Service to forego any physical release altogether. While Xbox One (physical) releases are supposed to be region free, the situation with the Chinese consoles seems to indicate that this changes "as required". Furthermore the regional rules for digital content can and will change on the fly (I think right now we are at the region of the DLC has to match the region of the game).
