Recommended Anime/Manga?

on my Turn A rewatch - it really is brilliant I think, but I started realising, they actually say that before Turn A, the Turn A Gundam was the sorta apocalyptic end of time for the last cycle of society, so it probably really should literally be in G-Reco. So far it's not looking like that's going to happen, and we're 23 episodes in, and I'm, not sure whether there is going to be a second season of G-Reco.

Been trying to read Battle Angel Alita, since James Cameron plans on releasing a movie vaguely like it in the future. I assume like literally the same year that putting human brains into robotic bodies is mundane and ho-hum already. Not been doing a good job of getting the care cat riled up for it, though.

Kind of like the new Monster X Monster manga, despite how well worn its tropes and cliches are. With how popular Monster Hunter is, you'd think more works would feature a monster world theme.

Well this is awesome. I suspect it will be the slow-paced shounen type though, like the manga with long sequences of heroes and baddies talking shit until Saitama arrives.

Thanks, will give it a listen. I am also enjoying Tokusatsu Radio 2.0, even though they focus a lot on 70's stuff, and less early 00's (Rider Chips are awesome).

When I do listen to anime online radio I'm generally cycling between AnimeNfo, r/a/dio (as Bananamatic mentioned), and Radio Nami.

I didn't have the patience to finish it, but Nagi no Asukara is really nice looking and has a similar atmosphere/setting as Aria, though with some actual drama and conflict.

Thanks for the list! I'll check and see if the library has any of those today, and what they don't have, will save up for. I'm not crazy for anime, but it still has a soft spot in my heart. Kids on The Slope was a darn good one. More about Jazz than Slice of Life I'd think though.

I have a preference towards supernatural horror (curses and hauntings and such) rather than bio-horror. Any recommendations? Japan only and obscure stuff is fine, I can find anything I want on amazon.jp.

I plan to watch that, but I should stop waiting for an italian dub considering that is from 5 years ago and the peculiar themes for an anime. At least we have the manga in Italy, as well the other Kakizaki's works (great drawings, but unpolished stories).

Speaking of waiting, the new Lupin the 3rd series should air in Italy in these months, so I better look out for this opportunity.

His stuff is pretty well known, but if you haven't checked it out yet, I would recommend anything by Junji Ito (Uzumaki, The enigma of amigara fault, etc.)

Uzumaki in particular is very heavy on the theme of inexplicable grotesque curses.

Junji Ito's Flesh-Coloured Horror and Mimi no Kaidan, Masaaki Nakamura's Fuan no Tane and Dajiro Morohoshi's Kaeri Michi (one-shot).
Haven't read them, but I've heard Karada Sagashi and the Skyhigh series are great.

approaching the end of 'Turn A' Gundam rewatch, really am enjoying it a lot the art in the last 20 or so episodes becomes so nice, as they seem to have added an extra layer of shading to a lot of stuff.

Finished reading 20th/21st Century Boys and Pluto. Urasawa and Nagasaki seem to have trouble making their stories' endings epic. I'm too tired to even complain about most asinine stuff (such as the time it takes "virus" to kill a victim).

Looks like AnimEigo seem set to get back in the anime distribution game. Backers of their Bubblegum Crisis Blu-ray kickstarter received a survey pertaining to preferred disc format, prices, and suggested shows for them to licence.
With Discotek essentially the last bastion for obscure & vintage releases, its great to see the old hats at AnimEigo active again.
Heck they even updated their website, which hadn’t seen a redesign since the mid 90s.
Aside from classic anime, I’d personally love to see them do some more of those cult samurai films which they used to put out, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
