PVM Galore/Jackpot!

Post by mgy1523 »

Let me state before hand that I apologize for making a new thread about this, but it is more than deserving.

Recently I had a case of bad luck with my first PVM (PVM-1351Q 13 inch) being shipped to me in which the neck board got completely destroyed. I then contacted the original seller and got another 13inch PVM OEV143 and decided to go to Pittsburgh to pick up this time around. So, during the mean time, I was just lurking around ebay and came upon an Olympus Endoscopy Cabinet with 2 Sony PVM monitors. The price was really decent at around $125 but only had "local pick up" as the option. After reading that this was infact 2 Sony 20L2MD's with the BKM-129X AND FROM MY STATE, I immediately bought it and decided to pick them up that weekend (today).

...So I get there, they guy is kind of an off beat but none the less, very nice and accommodating. I get both of the 20inch PVM's in my tiny Honda Accord and then hear him call out... He tells me just another PVM. I take a look at it and it's a 20inch Olympus. After shootin' the shit for a bit, I finally bring up the fact I'm interested in purchasing it. He immediately says he'll sell it for $20!!! SOLD! Right after that, HE FINDS ANOTHER ONE. This time, he says "Now this one, I'll give it to you for $10" and it's another 20 inch Olympus. Not only that, he tells me actually has access to hundreds of these things! He's going to contact me for whenever he finds more.

Just check this haul out for around $150

Make a video wall like a villains from a 1990s film/tv show 'near future' where everyone still use CRTS.

Awesome stuff! Video wall would be incredible, since they stack so well. Are any of those PVM-2053MD's? They look exactly like mine.

The Olympus models are OEV203. They're basically rebranded Sony's. All of them work perfectly too. What's not in the picture and is actually behind the coffee table is a Sony 1351q and an Olympus OEV143. I'm currently trying to get more from that guy so I can resell them at a very reasonable price to people that really want/need them. Especially the 20 inch PVM's.

I just messaged the guy again asking about more of these. He's the kind of fellow who has a couple of warehouses full of random stuff. Hopefully I'll get some more here. He kept telling me stories about how he had over hundreds of these and started to scrap them and then snuck them in the scrap yard (???) and then eventually just started busting them in with baseball bats out of boredom! Said he'll sell them to me since no one wants them. He's the kind of person who seems closed off to the rest of the world, a true bird from another feather. If anyone's interested in medical grade PVM's, I'll be sure to keep everyone updated about current huals so I can sell some. Believe me, I won't be charging arms and legs for these, unless of course th shipping is calling for the aforementioned limbs.

I'd love to buy a good one or two (With hopefully no major problems) from you for a decent price (ESP 20" models)if you don't mind when it is available!

My place of employment just became a Greyhound station and I have learned that they ship packages under 100lbs. (20" ones should be ~80lbs)
And I figured that stuff like this would fare a much better chance where it goes basically straight from someone's hands into the bottom compartment of the bus until it is delivered, or transferred to another bus et al until delivered.

I would literally be able to pick it up straight from work, and as long as it's packed well i'm sure it'd fare MUCH better than UPS/Fed-ex
They will probably make sure it's in the right position too if marked on the box which way should face which.

I picked a random city in Ohio to get a quick quote with an estimation of about 75lbs for a 20" to here in Oregon would be about 90$ ish.

Didn't know these were in Cleveland...tell him to look for any BKM-129Xs from busted units, he should definitely be able to sell a few on eBay.

I might stop by to get another PVM 20L2, or better if he has them, as "only" having one half-a-spare isn't enough

This guy is supposed to message me back soon with how many he still has. Crossing my fingers I hopes it's the mother load.

I should have taken a picture of Tekyard's warehouse in Elkin, NC. They have at least 40 PVM and Olympus OEV's mfg'd from the early 90's to mid 2000's. Most are in good shape. I've bought three from them in total. They'll totally let you test them out too.

Problem is, they're having trouble selling them! They've had them listed on ebay but I guess shipping is to steep. Maybe I should try to set them up with a retro game store somewhere that could buy up all their stock?

I ran into something similar when I bought mine. The guy I talked to said that he would actually lose money on the shipping costs because of how expensive it can be. He didn't have quite the stock that your guy did, but he had at least half a dozen PVM 20L2MDs from ~2004 along with around 10-15 older model PVMs.

Bazookaben: they should try putting them on craigslist. I know i would have bought some if they were on my local CL. Much better than shipping them.

Right now i have a 20 inch pvm thats broken because of shipping.

if i had the opportunity to buy one from craigslist and not ship it i would have.

None ever seem to come up on there though.

My girl just picked up two PVM-1354Q for $35 each posted at my local craiglist (the seller did not have bigger monitor and said this was the tail end of the CRT, last 2) and she asked me "what are you going to do with all those monitors?". I said I have a good idea...

three weeks ago she also picked up a Lacie Electron Blue IV 22 for $50:) The PVM-1354Q's will be used for vertical games xbox360 and MAME. I just do not feel comfortable flipping on the side the 20" PVM/BVM. The Lacie Electron Blue IV 22 will be for xbox 360 and the Sega Dreamcast:).

Thank you for the PM BazookaBen..
