My Mom has some plant in the house that is breeding gnats or something. I can't get rid of the bastards. I just breathed one of the little bastards up my nostril. So gross. I've tried the apple cider vinegar with dish soap trick and it barely got any of them. It's driving me absolutely nuts.

Also the zipper on my Carhartt jacket won't work anymore. I've had it for about eight years and its held up really well otherwise. But it's the only good winter coat I have right now and it gets so freaking cold here.

And the cat keeps puking in the floor. Plus its always got to be in a spot that I'll end up stepping in it barefoot in the poopy shit vomit in the while walking to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Last night I see Age of Wonders 3 for $15 on the gog flash sale. I'm not sure if it's good, or it's one of those disappointing 3D sequels (turns out I was thinking of Disciples 3). I read the on-site reviews and they're nothing but flying spittle rage over supposed DRM. I do some more research and find that it's just a login to use their online servers for multiplayer. What's more the let's plays on youtube look really good.

I pop back to gog and the sale is over and now the game is frigging $45!

I swear, nobody writes more useless reviews than the users of gog.

So I watch that gog sale like a hawk and sure enough Age of Wonders pops back up for $15 so I snatch it up. Hooray!

...except the game overheats my system like nobody's business. NOW BEFORE ANYONE SAYS IT, I run other graphically intensive programs like The Witcher 2 without any overheating, SO IT'S NOT A TOWER AIRFLOW PROBLEM, ALRIGHT?

Anyhow, I pop over to the official forums and am greeted with this little ray of sunshine:

The only other game I've ever had overheat my GPU like this was the (not at all graphically impressive) Aarklash Legacy. That was never patched either. You'd think it'd be embarrassing to make a fantasy 4X that's LESS stable than Eador: Masters of the Broken World.

- Most other businesses are closed; literally one customer walks in all day.

- Now that snow is done, work decides to close EARLY, forcing us to drive home on same lousy roads before plows have come through.

Overheating is a hardware problem. If a buggy game causes your system to overheat, then your system was shipped with inadequate cooling gear.

However, you might be able to mitigate this problem if you can manually throttle your CPU/GPU clocks. When playing HOMM3 I always set my CPU to a low speed mode to prevent unnecessary waste heat.

Getting killed by Genshin when I still had at least one healing item in stock is pretty annoying, too (I was at the end of the 3rd loop).

The NGII DLC was the first thing I bought on XBox Live. Second was Perfect Dark. Both were good purchases (even given that we agree that "online only" "purchases" suck). The huge amount of online-only achievements in even games that are single player only annoys me, though.

Western (especially North American) retro game collector's who are "completionists". I will never really understand pursuing something like a complete set of loose NES games. Why do people want to own terrible games just to have a complete set? It's kind of frightening how sheeplike that entire scene is--they are all high-fiving each other all the time etc.

I also don't understand people paying like 3x+ for a rare US game when you can get the original Japanese version with better packaging, better artwork from the country of origin. Obviously, for RPGs or similar games I understand that there is a significant language barrier, but something like Rockman X3 vs Megaman X3 for example the discrepancy in both quality and price is crazy.

Advertising. Like 99% of ads of any sort, especially invasive pop ups when reading CinemaBlend articles on my phone. They take up the whole screen & pop up after giving you just enough time to become invested in the article. Then, the article will be unnecessarily scattered over multiple pages so you'll have to precision tap that tiny 'x' multiple times to get through the article.

It makes me not want to play Bloodborne at all, & I'm a -huge- Demon's Souls fan.
