Is there any footage of that location test of guwange?

BOOM. Not to derail the topic at hand, but this is why I'm more drawn to old school twitch shmups than bullet hell. I enjoy the patterns and the geometric aspect of those, but when the bullet patterns become so dense that it becomes difficult to judge where your craft/character is in relation to all the screen spam, it becomes as much an exercise in frustration for me as it does a challenge, oftentimes more so. We'll see if having a 360 and obtaining a handful of additional modern shmups can change my mind or not.S_Fang wrote:But some of them (the first decade of 2000 and after) has a visible hit-box which allows a precise dodging. I'm not saying that the games lacking of visible hit-box are bad, but at least they didn't have such density that coerce you to micro dodging and it relay on macro dodging.
Interesting stuff, though, especially about DDP2. In particular, because it apparently had little or nothing to do with the quality of DDP2, but more about the profitability of additional DDP games. It's also interesting about all the changes during the development of Guwange.

DDP2 is IGS's masterpiece. It might suck compared to Cave but on its own, maybe with a different title and graphics, beats the shit out of a lot of shmups.
