It went down exactly like I thought it would.

I died twice on stage 4 (field of death and the boss), no missed stage 5 in its entirety, lost a ship on 6, but I didn't lose my shit).
No missed the boss till the 3rd form. I got passed its 1st attack, died on the 2nd (as expected), and got through the 3rd.

Once the 3rd phase was finished I knew I'd get the clear.

After all that I made it to the last boss in Fast Striker, wound up with a 2-CC.

Also, it's not just a 1-ALL, it's a full fledged ALL, as there's only one loop!

Full disclosure Jonst - I bought Mars Matrix two years ago. It was the 1st shmup I purchased when I decided to start taking the genre seriously. I was in no way ready for it at the time, but I credit fed the hell out of it and I had seen it through to the end on a few occasions.

I did not start from scratch when I started playing it after Christmas, I knew what to expect for the most part. The difference being that my skills have improved a lot since I bought it.

LH - You are right. It is just an ALL

As far as what is next? I think over the next few weeks I will concentrate on Fast Striker and Raiden IV.

That said I am going to dip my feet in Mars Matrix Elite Mode this evening just to test the waters out. I plan on feeding till the end - I just want an idea of what to expect should I decide to tackle it later this year.

1- I only have a 360 - so it will have to be on that. I have SDOJ but that ain't happening:). Either Akai Katana (the easiest to acquire) or something that is region free.

Just finished Shikigami No Shiro II easy mode and normal mode with Kim-2. The Shikigami series is very underrated in my opinion.

Beat Hitogata Happa's TLB on Nobilmente(Normal) difficulty. Okay, I'd done it before in solo Voyage with Fool cause you get a lot of lives then and Fool can jump over a lot of the patterns, but this was in the maingame, so I didn't have the guarantee of getting to her(since maingame actually has a requirement unlike Solo Voyage and Destiny 13 where it shows up regardless on Nobilmente or higher but never on Euridice, while maingame can trigger it on all 4 modes), so I only had access to 12 Fools which I obviously saved for the final pattern so I couldn't cheese through most of the survival patterns.



Also got over a billion points on Euridice(Easy) mode to get #2 score on Steam, but I'm still not really satsified with my score yet. I really wish I had the replay for the top score to see if there's any other tricks I'm missing or if I'm just not using Zone of Control enough.


I'll probably stay on Euridice and Nobilmente for a bit. I still want to improve my main game Euridice, Destiny 13 Euridice, and maybe try to get a slightly higher Nobilmente main game. I've also been playing some Solo Voyage with various dolls on Nobilmente(1cc'd all dolls on Euridice already), but it's just going horribly since none have the ridiculous advantages that Fool has. I've gotten to the TLB with Clover but never with enough lives to have a shot. Got to fake last boss once on Earl, but generally she times out on something before that due to being way underpowered, and trying Earl vs. TLB on Euridice in practice mode just shows that Earl can't even beat her before timeout because she can't do enough damage to trigger the last phase before timeout making the timeout phase a completely broken mechanic for her.

OT - I watched a 1 CC run of Caladrius last night. It might have been because I was a little messed up, but I was overwhelmed with all of the things you seemingly have to keep track of.

Giga Wing could also be on my list down the road. I would have to pick it up first and be ready for another monumental challenge! Thanks for the suggestion Roo.

Edit - Went to Youtube, searched Giga Wing, and your video was the 1st return. I noticed several enemies in Giga Wing that make guest appearances in Mars Matrix elite mode. Excellent run too!

Got to the 2nd loop on Outzone ... My first 1cc/1st loop clear kinda thing on an actually PCB.
I know it's not the most difficult game in the world though!

That spinning weapon is downright amazing. Reached the last boss with it, speed up, shield etc and instantly died.
Had to kill him with the weak starting weapon ...

Since done it a couple more times, the spinner weapon takes the last boss out ridiculously fast!

Finally nailed an All Clear in Giga Wing last night (DC version) using Ruby.

It ended up as a total YOLO moment right at the end. I was on TLB's final form on my last life and 1 bomb in stock (where he just throws out these ridiculous thick spiral patterns)... I used the RF and moved in point-blank, then backed up and bombed (so no more get-out-jail-free cards) which gave my RF enough time to refill so I could use it again. Each wave of the boss consists of him slowly moving across the top of the screen from one side to the other spewing out the pattern. When he gets to an edge, he stops.. then fires a couple of fast aimed shots, pauses and then starts the spiral again moving back the way he came. I had survived phase 1 but normally needed another bomb to finish off phase two. Anyway, I remained under him as long as I could and then started to move away to allow a load of bullets to fill the screen... did so and then triggered RF. At this point I figured the run was over so I just stayed directly beneath the boss and backed away to the bottom of the screen. Right as a cross-cross of blue and green bullet waves was about to smash into me, the little pain in the ass died! It could not have been closer.

I plan to post a run up on Youtube soon (tragically, I wasn't recording last night).

made it to black heart. considering i dont get much time to play, its a big personal achievement for me.

i havent been doing savestate practice at all, i just keep playing till game over, and restart from stage 1. i guess this as good a time as any to start savestating.

places i see i can improve and be more consistent at:
1> stage 2 consistent flamingoes. sometimes get 800k, sometimes a 1mil, and sometimes 1.25 or more.
2> stage 3 boss, no bomb kill.
3> stage 4 collect all the full bombs from the tanks
4> stage 4 boss, a better strategy than just unloading bombs
5> stage 5 dont get hit by the sweeping patterns of black heart like a retard

This one is actually surprisingly easy with a little bit of savestate practice to get a feel for it. Check out this replay, which is a really good illustration of a straightforward way to kill the boss safely and fully without bombing. I used to have trouble on it too, but after only around 30 minutes of savestate practice, I almost never die there now. It might even be my favorite boss, because it feels so cool to take it down so surgically.

well, i know how to do it, but i usually end up blowing all the turrets. like i said, i have been mostly playing full runs, usually 1 or 2 about 3 days a week. i know the strat from watching all the special demonstrations videos (thanks icarusfw). gonna do a little save state practice on the bosses especially.

I dont know, but accomplishing even tiny goals in this game feels so rewarding.

R-Type 2 and 3 were definitely the hardest and closer to 25 hours + I'd imagine. Super R-Type and R-Type Final were probably closer to 5-10 hours.

Meanwhile, I'm still stuck in progear fail hell. Sporadic practise over the last couple of weeks. Had some good runs yesterday, but, again stupid mistakes. Another extremely close run where another 3 seconds would have cleared it.
