Bohdan Tomaszewski, a legendary (and I mean LEGENDARY) Polish sports commentator died at age of 93.
Funnily enough, I'm not into sports, but I like a good commentary on the radio, even when I have no clue what's being played (that is, nearly most of the time). Knew him only from his legend and some recordings, but he was one person of spoken word.

I meant that the joke was too soon.

Nimoy was one of the all time greats, and accomplished a ton - I think it feels like he didn't leave any business unfinished, so I'm not totally devastated by the news. Mostly I just have a fuzzy feeling from remembering the good times.
Might watch The Cage in his memory, even though it's not him at the height of his powers.
Other ideas for a TV wake: Mission Impossible, Star Trek IV, original series episode "The Tholian Web" (I think that's the one with the behind-the-scenes story about "Fascinating."), Ancient Mysteries, The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins, his Simpsons cameo.
NPR has a great obit for him here:

He was on the Simpsons back when it was good... twice. Once was the X-Files episode.

Or perhaps "3 men and a baby." He directed that, and it was a box office record-breaker at the time. Seems like a better way to remember the man and not the character.Ed Oscuro wrote:Might watch The Cage in his memory, even though it's not him at the height of his powers.

Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.
An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.
Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

Oh, bugger. He was one of my favourite authors. I loved The Witches books in particular.AT LAST, SIR TERRY, WE MUST WALK TOGETHER.
Terry took Death's arm and followed him through the doors and on to the black desert under the endless night.
The End.

I look back now at what James Best brought to that guy. Goofball? Sure, but it just seems genius now. Those mannerisms... so over the top.

Percy Sledge dies at 73.
Can't say I really knew his work, barring the most ubiquitous stuff, but like quite a few noobs I came away from "This Is England" loving his rendition of "At The Dark End Of The Street."

Yeah. I'll likely forever hate myself for not seeing him a year or so ago when he played in Shreveport, Louisiana. As I understand it, he actually came through that area pretty often.

Big loss, at the young age of 93, Christopher Lee. Master of many roles, mainly horror.
