What recent game console do you own for shmups?

The first game I bought for my first next gen X-Box 360 console (since 1999 Dreamcast) was Otomedius Excellent.

No Saturn or PS1 options? Both platforms have a ton of great shmups and are easy to region mod.

Recent ... no matter how old I'm feeling I wouldn't count 1995 as recent... tbh think dreamcast and ps2 are pushing it too under that definition

I was thinking that PS2 and Dreamcast was recent enough, hahaha.

I'm not surprised the 360 is heading with all its great cave ports.

The variety on shmups (both new and old ones) was one of the main reasons I bought Xbox 360.

Bought a JP 360 a few months back after buying the Cave Collection. I have a saturn as well but not nearly as many games for it

Why is the Wii not on there? The Virtual Console is a powerhouse for playing SNES, Genesis, and especially Turbografx-16 games. Hell, it got me back into scrolling shooters and turned me into the genre fan I am today. Gate of Thunder, Star Parodier, Musha... there's like a million great games to play. Plus there are some solid standalone releases like Shikigami 3, Milestone Collection, Blast Works, and Sin and Punishment.

I'm also curious why Wii U isn't on there because, even though it doesn't have a whole lot of scrolling shooters, neither do Xbone and PS4. And if we include the Wii VC functionality it crushes them.

I got rid of my Wii, but I kept Castle of Shikigami III, which was my only game.
