Shipping superguns from Japan
Hi all,
Has anyone got experience with intermediaries shipping hardware from any of these mom & pop shops in Japan that don't support overseas/Paypal shipping? I've been googling for someone like that and I could have sworn someone on Shmups mentioned a few sites that do it. There are a few places that sell the Sigma superguns that have responded to me that they don't ship overseas and don't support Paypal.
Thanks,
Brandon

Yeah, rancor sent me what I needed, with a little extra. Very good service. Thanks, man!
Re: Shipping superguns from Japan
Shipping just one or two cabinets is hardly worth the cost. Only way to get the shipping reasonably cheap is filling up an entire containerACSeraph wrote:Anyone know about large scale shipping from Japan? What's the cheapest method to ship big stuff, like an entire cab?

Regarding superguns and anything else large-but-sub-1-cubic-meter (give or take) FromJapan has crazy low fares with FedEx.
Ex from Pachitalk: a pachislo machine, 1000 tokens and a coin tray. Package weight: 46.82 kg with dimensions of 91 x 57 x 53cm. Cost below 22k yen to the U.K.

This place seems fair:ACSeraph wrote:Anyone know about large scale shipping from Japan? What's the cheapest method to ship big stuff, like an entire cab?

I've checked the rates to ship all my stuff back, and they're the closest to sane. You dont have to buy an entire container, and they do door-to-door.
Re: Shipping superguns from Japan
Great info, thanks rancor. I don't know how much longer I'm going to be here, so I need to think of how I'm going to ship all this crap I've amassed over the past 5 years home.rancor wrote:This place seems fair:ACSeraph wrote:Anyone know about large scale shipping from Japan? Sweet jesus this still can't be cheap. Pack up all your games /pcbs/ collectables and ems them back Home. Take all your best clothes and pay for a second overweight suitcase for the plane ride. Everything else sell/donate/give away.ACSeraph wrote:Great info, thanks rancor. The problem is my game collection is kind of ridiculously huge, and I really don't want to part with it. Most of my other stuff can be gotten rid of, since it will be cheaper to just buy new stuff back home (wherever home ends up being), but the game collection would be extremely difficult to replace. I'm hoping I can ship it all back for around $1,000.

Re: Shipping superguns from Japan

Man I had a Sigma Raisin superglue shipped EMS to me from Japan for like $70 and that box was a monster in box size and weight. $1000 price tag to ship back a game collection is impressive to say the least lol
I'm assuming mostly cartridge stuff since it seems to weigh more than newer plastic case/disc stuff?
sorry just bored and curious

Re: Shipping superguns from Japan
Theres a lot of everything really, hardware, software, carts and discs. Hundreds and hundreds of games. There's also promo stuff, and general merchandise. Much of it is boxed too, which takes a lot of space.
Probly I'm too materialistic and should let it go, but honestly, unlike a lot of collectors I actually really do play the stuff in my collection. I don't have any focus; I probly play ten completely different games a day on average.

Re: Shipping superguns from Japan
I inquired about shipping back 3 cabs and my PVM monitor. The rest can go by standard mail (~$100 for 40kg - takes 6 weeks to arrive). If you're not shipping back gigantic items like cabs and monitors, I'd suggest just using regular mail. 40kg in a giant box is a lot!
I think for the 3 cabs, I was quoted a little under $2000. Of course, I'll stuff some things in the bay since they go by cubic meter rather than weight.

Is there something going on in Japan and everyone is leaving or

Mine is just wishful thinking.
No plans to leave yet.

Re: Shipping superguns from Japan
Hmmm 40kg for 1man isnt bad at all, but is there a size limit on the boxes? Guess I should head to the post office and ask them about it.
My contract has a 5 year maximum renewal limit. Unless I enter into a private contract I can't continue my work here, but that might be difficult. I hope it works out, but I need to have a plan for if it doesn't. I could continue working here if I wanted to via a different organization, but I would lose a lot of the freedom I have now. If things don't work out here, there's actually a good chance I'll be moving to Singapore. I can't think of a single good reason to go back to America, it's falling apart over there.

I hear you, although I'd replace America with England - basically the exact same story though.ACSeraph wrote: I can't think of a single good reason to go back to America, it's falling apart over there.
Lucky for me I did all my game collecting in the UK - 20 year's worth - and then left it all behind. I don't do much game buying here except for the odd thing here and there.
I would never part with my collection *I don't think* - means too much - but pretty sure the fastidious collecting phase of my life is behind me.
Now I need to have a kid!
