I like Ran a lot. The sunfish too, he's my favorite. What's his name? Mambo? I may just think it's Mambo because that was the sunfish's name in Link's Awakening.
I dunno why...maybe it's because I've grown fond of the ship since Gradius Gaiden, but with Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius, I always choose Lord British. Call me crazy. :-p
Outside of those, I either pick Koitsu or Vic Viper. Twinbee can be fun to use, too.
Mambou is the japanese name for the sunfish. They exist for real. So it's not like any of the games are inspired by any of the other games. Anyway, the english name should be sunfish or something. I think they are supercool fish.

I always thought that, too. It's probably an intended play on words, but maybe it was already with Space Manbow. I mean, just look at the player ship there. It really resembles the sunfish shape. Could it be that the game is supposed to be named "Space Sunfish"?
My favourite Paro characters are definitely Hikaru (that carrot laser rocks) and Michael (you can't go wrong with a flying pig with a bandaid on his crotch).
Aye, Michael's my favourite bad-ass flying bacon. I like how he powers up and it's nice to choose between his two attacks (the 360 bullet cover or frontal waves) depending on what the stage is like.
