Had a handful of shots at this one, congrats on finishing it, here are my thoughts offhand:
- Point-blanking is fun, especially since the game is generous enough with lives and bombs to allow you to spend both on grabbing a few extra points, though I wouldn't have minded a mini-life meter over mid-sized enemies to help you out in that endeavor, as I've been on the business end of more than one "c'mon, c'mon die die diediedieAARRGGGH" situation while sitting on top of a turret.
- Appreciate the option to change bullet color, that really ought to come standard within the genre at this point in time. Also appreciate being able to disable replay saving.
- All four ships have something to offer, but their scoring potential seems to vary pretty widely, especially when it comes to medaling; perhaps separate score tables for each would have been warranted. I'm also tempted to suggest a Feveron-esque "drop a bomb to save your medal chain" mechanic, especially for the slower ships - if one of your wide shots nails something across the screen from you and it drops a medal you'll have to get lucky to catch it.
- You mentioned in the development topic that Intel graphics cards had given you some issues, and I assume that's what's up with my non-gaming laptop, as the framerate never goes much above 30 and occasionally speeds up suddenly, whether vsync is on or off. Game's still playable though, and otherwise doesn't seem to give my machine any trouble; haven't even heard the fan speed up once.
- The "focus" button seems dodgy on my end, for some reason; if I sit still and hold it down the alternate shot mode activates, but once I start moving I seem to go back to "regular" shots/movement, which kind of kills the point, heh. Maybe it's something to do with joy2key?
- Is there a more detailed guide out there on how rank and such works in this game (I'm especially interested in how medal drops are determined, so you can keep an eye out for them)? This is definitely kin to Garegga, and like that game will almost certainly become more enjoyable once you actually know what's going on!
Good stuff happening here, congrats again on the release.
