Hudson Selection Star Soldier-same stages as PSP??...

Post by dave4shmups »

I LOVE PSP Star Soldier and am having a blast with it. However, I also have a Game Cube, and intend to get a Freeloader disc so that I can get Sonic Gems import.

So I was wondering if it's worth getting Hudson Selection Star Soldier, since I've got PSP Star Soldier? Obviously there's only one ship, but aside from that, how do the stages compare-are any of them, or all of them, the same as PSP Star Soldier, or are they all completely different?

I have GC version only, and looking at the PSP video Kiken uploaded, the stages look pretty much the same. Note, that there is only 1 ship type in the GC version (at it doesn't start off with laser).

BTW: I don't use my freeloader disc anymore since I modded my GC with a region switch. PM me if you are interested in buying it.

No, but thanks-I already have my own GC. The 2 minute time-attack Stage looks the same; that wouldn't be a concern for me-but all of the stages are the same, then forget it!

have both and yes the games are the same, however the psp has the new ships which the gamecube dont have.
but if you like the psp version you will love the gamecube one as it has more details and plays even better, its one of my favorite shmups ever and must have, i recommend this to everyone, its worth the double buy!

Dave_K, is the yoko screen any friendlier for those evil fast enemies that come in from the side? I'll lose like 3 lives in a row because of those things on the PSP version.

Unfortually, they are just as difficult for me too. Just have to just memorize those parts and where to be. I plan to give more time to GC's Star Soldier as soon as I work on an autofire circuit for my sticks.

Well, I've been unable to track down an OST for either one of these versions of Star Soldier-which is quite a shame! It's not '80's hair-metal, like Lords of Thunder, but Hudson still knows how to pump out some rockin' tunes! :D
