Re: Death Roulette: Loop 4 -Eternal STG Tournament-

Post by Lilium »

Games for this week for me are:

Lilium - Daioujou White Label - Stage 5 (didn't even loop ;_;)
Lilium - Salamander 2 - Stage 3
Lilium - Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream Lunatic - Stage 7
Lilium - EspGaluda 2 Black Label - Stage 3 (why ;_;)
Lilium - Armed Police Batrider - Stage 3 (Have reached Z.City so pretty fail to lose to s3 on Normal course)

5 games I have no idea how to play. Brilliant! This time I went ahead and expanded the list of stuff i have access to so now i have way more and I decided to add arrange modes and stuff to the mix too. I will continue to expand my collection to not only vary up the sort of stuff I'll be playing. I have tried the colonel option a lot but I often end up sitting there for a long time until he gives me something I actually have lol so doing it manually is just a better option. I can't help but feel it gives me too much power to control what I end up with but I have about 100 games now and there's some legit stinkers among them and some things I haven't even tried yet. I guess that'll suffice :>

EDIT: OKay played my credits, damn I was NOT performing well today. What the fuck lol. I forgot to note down the scores, sorry about that. Was kinda considering not posting my performances at all because they're quite frankly embarassing to me but again, we all have shit days sometimes I guess so I decided to stand by it and post em'!!

Overall score this week: 5+3+7+3+3= 21 points.
Better RNG next week I hope!

Blinge - USAAF Mustang - 4

Blinge - Undead Line - 1
Blinge - Phalanx - 4

Man I was just glad my phalanx credit was over. Still, I'd have loved that game as a kid.

Raiden Fighters Jet - 3 (oh god, not RF again)
Kaitei Daisensou - 1 (what is this ?...)
Valkyrius - 2 (stupid warping system I didn't bother reading about at the start)
V-V - 2
Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu Ver. 1.5 - 5

Total : 13

Four-and-a-half blind games out of five (played one credit of DFK some months ago).
That was pretty fun anyway ; I hope I'll be more lucky next week.

I decided to play classic mode in Radirgy Noa since it only has 5 stages like a standard arcade game.

By the way Pestro, I wasn't sure whether your DFK all was two loops since it wasn't noted so I only gave you credit for one loop (you won either way though). If you did both let me know and I'll update the score. Please note stage count in submissions even if it's a clear and also if you kill a TLB note that too since it's worth bonus points.

Was preoccupied with other stuff and I didn't end up playing this week. Better try to get back into it for Loop 5...

Time to roll for this week!

1. Espgaluda
2. Batsugun (Normal)
3. Battle Garegga
4. Touhou 14: Double Dealing Character
5. Pink Sweets

Note: I rolled Batsugun Special right after Batsugun, but I considered that too close to Batsugun so I rerolled.

One game that I've rolled before (Espgaluda), four that I haven't. Looking forward to this week's games even though I don't think I'm going to do well on most of them.

Scores listed below:

Shepardus - Espgaluda - Tateha - 4 - 7404920

Shepardus - Batsugun - Beltiana - 4 - 1386090

Shepardus - Battle Garegga - Golden Bat - 5 - 2577110

Shepardus - Touhou Kishinjou ~ Double Dealing Character - Reimu A, Normal difficulty - ALL (6 stages) - 367903230

Shepardus - Pink Sweets ~Ibara Sorekara~ - Shasta - 2 - 643080

Black Label only has one loop. I did beat Golden Disaster (appears after the Stage 5 Boss in Black Label after certain requirements are met) but Hibachi or Zatsuza can appear after him if you fulfill additional requirements (which I did not do) so I'm not sure if that qualifies as a TLB clear? I'm OK either way. I had two extra lives in stock when I got the clear (not sure if that matters).

Alright, I'm in this loop!

LordHypnos - King and Balloon - 3 - 7,150
LordHypnos - Dokingan - 4 - 17,881,060
LordHypnos - Fantasy Zone II DX - 3 - 92,500
LordHypnos - Mars Matrix: Hyper Solid Shooting (DC ver) - Mosquito 02 - 6 - 1,170,534,657,880
LordHypnos - Samidare - 3 - 18,825,592
Death Roulette Loop 5 score: 21

Total Score (for lulz): 1,170,571,464,182

A couple lucky rolls there, and def the best MM credit I've had for like a week, even though I didn't clear. Made it to sixth stage boss, though, and got a whopping 2,809,807 experience, not to mention my first pink digit score since I was at my peak of mowing down martian revolutionaries! Suprisingly managed to no miss Anareta's really hard pattern (the second to last one) in Samidare, but I did have some other stupid deaths against Anareta. Still made it to the final boss, though.

Note also I was using autofire in FZ2DX

This brings up a question, though. King & Balloon is a single screen shooter with waves rather than stages. How do you want to count waves? (Sorry if someone already asked).

Edited to remove the word wave from King and Balloon score.

Edited again to add the score for the week (If I did all the math right). I feel like you should add maybe a half dozen zeroes to the end of this to make it feel more impressive. Wouldn't you prefer 21,000,000 points over a simple 21?

I consider a wave to be a stage. It's short, but most of those games get rough pretty quickly.

Great incentive to rotate games in the cabinet :D My selection is somewhat limited (only tate, no mame/360 at the mo) and my game collection is (for the lack of a better word - tiny). Anyway here's my roll for this week:
R=Player&Game&Ship&Stage&Score R=Stompp&Strikers 1999&F/A-18&1-3&197800 R=Stompp&Turbo Force&n/a&2&112600 R=Stompp&Dodonpachi Daioujou BL&type-b/shot&2&6 million something :oops: R=Stompp&Espgaluda II&Ageha&3&5625151 R=Stompp&Shikigami no Shiro&Kohtaro Kuga&1-1&32300080

Most of these I haven't played much at all so I got whopped good :D

So if I've gotten everything correct I've got 13 points :?

Raiden IV - 1-3
Baroque Shooting - 3 (it was all so easy until the boss grabbed me and I didn't realize you need to wiggle the stick around to break free)
DDP DOJ BL - 1-ALL
Touhou 14 - 3 (really need to start making these attempts when the wife and kids are out)
Progear - 1-3

Loop 5 results:

What have I done in this loop:

S_Fang - Gunbird 2 - Valmiro (Robot-thing) - Stage 2 - 115400
S_Fang - In the Hunt / Kaitei Daisensou (World) - Stage 1 - N.A.
S_Fang - Aero Fighters - AJ-37 - Stage 4 - 248200
S_Fang - Sonic Wings 3 - F4U-CORSAIR (Keaton) - Stage 2 - 114500
S_Fang - Varth: Operation Thunderstorm - Fixed Pods - Stage 4 - 361900

TOTAL: !!13!!

This time, the Colonel gave me some manageable games to pull of blindly, unlike the previous week. Well, not every title was blind, like In the Hunt and Sonic Wings 1 and 3, but it passed so much time that I do not remember much.

iast - Final Soldier - Stage 4 - 1179600

Really fun to take another stab at the Soldier series. Was doing really well but getting powered down in stage 4 made things really rough.

iast - Phalanx The Enforce Fighter A-144 - SNES version - Stage 5 - 230930

Got further in this than I thought. Might have done better if I had a better grasp of the weapons = bombs mechanic. I like some stuff about this game but either your ship normally doesn't do enough damage or enemies have way too much health.

iast - Varth - Stage 4 - 417800

Didn't even get past the first boss. :( Like this game but don't really know it too well.

iast - Dragon Breed - Stage 2 - 147300

I LOVE the concept of this game but in traditional Irem fashion, you either know exactly what's coming up or you get stomped on.

iast - Rapid Hero - Stage 3 - 250900

This seems like a pretty fun game but I played like a total idiot. Probably shouldn't have left it for the very end...

Stage total: 18

Interesting mix of stuff this week. More blind plays this week too but most of them went better than I would've expected.
