RGB modded SNES mini power supply issues

Post by tacoguy64 »

I bought this 3 in 1 power adapter from TOMEE for only $10. I plug in my recently rgb modded SNES mini, and its working good. But once I stopped playing and turn off the SNES, I hear a pop. And sure enough the power supply smells like burnt electronics. I'm guessing the SNES mini is sensitive when it comes to power? I just hope my mini is alright.

Those 3-in-1 power supplies are complete shit, not surprised that it failed. I'd invest in an original SNES PSU if I were you, or you can mod the system to accept a different one such as a model 1 Genesis/MD PSU.

those aftermarket power supplies are garbage. they burn things up or create strange video issues.

I had an snes a while back that came with an aftermarket power supply so i decided to try it. it refused to display a picture on a dlp tv even though it would turn on. it just said no signal. Plugged it into a crt with the same power supply and it showed a black and white picture with a horizontal line running through it.

then i used the original power supply from my snes and that snes worked perfectly fine.
