Uploaded my Dodonpachi Daioujou 2-ALL (1.058B with A-EX)

Should be available in 60 fps soon, it's taking forever to process.

good stuff, i have a question though
How did you get an extend at the end of 2-3? I thought you only get one if you finish a stage with no missing (you died on the stage earlier) or with zero lives (you still had one spare)
Is there some other way to get extends in the 2nd loop? Finishing with max bomb bonus?

It's No Deaths OR No Bombs for an extend. He no bombed the stage, so he gets an extend. You only lose it if you both die and bomb.

That doesn't make it any easier, really. It means the only stage you're allowed to die (once) in is 2-3, because the 2-2 and 2-4 bosses have incredibly difficult patterns that most players (ie. anybody but the top 0.1%) will have to bomb to get through reliably. Nevermind the 2-4 railguns.

It's also okay to die in the stage portion of 2-5, but it makes the series of bosses much harder. Proper hyper management with 4 lives at the first boss will trivialize some of the hardest parts. The only real danger at that point is the red/blue line attack because it's (seemingly) RNG luck trash. Die there and you're done. Or play Leinyan and bomb through everything lol.

The first boss' third attack, the one right after the circular blue pattern. I'm not completely sure it's random since at one point I managed to get a good (dodgeable) pattern 20+ times in a row in practice, but every once in a while he'll throw the most fucked up undodgeable bullshit pattern at you and force you to either bomb or die. The only problem with bombing there is that you'll have to dodge most of the second boss' first attack, which can be difficult if he moves in a bad way (I know you can influence how the bosses move, but I'm not sure how to control them reliably).

i thought the only luck based thing about it was the initial position of the attack, once you get into the rhythm and misdirect it vertically it doesn't seem hard at all

idk if it's harder in WL but 2nd boss opener never felt too hard to me, the second attack can easily turn into undodgeable garbage though

Exactly. You don't have much time to figure out which "lanes" will be open before you get boxed in (which can happen almost immediately if you get a *really* bad pattern), so you just have to hope you don't get screwed by shit design.

I've always thought that the pattern we're talking about here is literally the easiest one during the whole final trio

Start at bottom right, then as the pattern starts rush to the gap at bottom left. Then just follow the gap you're in, and the only thing you have to keep an eye out for is the blue. You'll never have to go through the red lanes, and I can assure that
you'll have 100% consistency at that pattern with this method.

EDIT: Yeah you don't seem to do it in the replay at least

Not nearly as impressive as DOJWL, I'm sure, but I finally uploaded my Mars Matrix video onto Youtube, in six different parts, and with annotations. Hopefully someone will find it useful.

An ALL clear of a newish Doujin recently shown to me: Dokingan

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6iSbMED4YE

It's interesting and oddly entertaining albeit wacky. Unfortunately this game seems really difficult to capture in good quality and a high frame rate. I opted for a higher frame rate but the quality took a noticeable hit.

Congrats on the clear. Didn't know about this game. I'm downloading it now. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Some impressive dodging at the top of the screen.

Has anyone else beaten Inbachi yet?

Almost beat (well, not really) Daioujou Black the other day, stopped at 2-5. I'd never gotten past 2-2 before.

Really not trying to crush you or hurt your feelings, but I want to you to acknowledge that you're not even close.
I remember getting to 2-5 pretty fast after being able to loop, and people kept saying this..

Wow lol. How can it be that bad?

I have the PS1 version released in like 1996 and it plays perfectly, extremely close to the arcade from what I can tell. Yet here we are almost 20 years later and it plays like absolute shit on a machine thousands of times more powerful. That's just disgraceful.

Because at some point emulation became a much cheaper and easier way to do things than actually porting. Actual porting makes it easy to do everything right because you can easily change the game. Emulation is actually a hard thing to do right, especially when you want it correct, and these outfits just don't have the budget, time, nor caring to do it properly.

Geez. Can we just impose a law against unfaithful ports? Selling something as Gradius when its not actually Gradius shouldn't be legit 8)

Yeah, it just really pisses me off. Someone is going to buy that and think Gradius is a complete piece of shit because the "porting" is so horrendous that the game is nearly unplayable.

That PS4 vid is so much slower than the arcade one.

If it were on PS3 instead of PS4, I would have probably quickly wasted money on it. Thankfully I don't have a PS4 yet.

I wonder how many people will buy this because of the hilariously easy trophy list. Of course, a lot of people that would buy something for the trophies would probably say "no plat, no buy" so maybe they wouldn't.

Yeah, you don't even need any sort of skill to be able to max the trophy list. It looks like you could probably get all of those before or during stage 1.

Trophy for opening the options menu or resetting the game? What the fuck is the point of these?

Why don't they have actual trophies for getting a 1cc or no death or clearing loop2 or something that actually means something. Is this really what modern gaming is about, collecting "trophies" that mean absolutely nothing?

Again, it comes down to being an emulator. They can't easily make trophies for doing something in game because for the most part they can't tell what is actually going on in the game, so they just make them for using the interface.
