- There is a thing developed by the title of "War of the Worlds" next to "Gulf
War".
- The manufacturer that says NTC seems to be related companies that to tell the truth, there is a development base in NMK.
Is it naming that seems to be easy put because "Super-X" is made in Japan, and "Super-strike 2X" became popular at that time?
- There is relations also in the title of manufacturer "DOOYONG" in South Korea.
Very interesting, Imhotep. Were any of those in Japanese? Can you provide pics of the board(s)? I've only seen the one at maws, which I would assume was used for the dump. It would be good to try to rule out hacks(rom swaps)/protos/test versions. If more than a few of these surface I think it's safe to say it was released outside Japan at least (why they wouldn't release it there is a mystery..??).
Could this Ore!/Oredayo/Ore~ be the same programmer ORE808 from Psyvariar?? And a long shot, could the sound man Hide-Kaz = Hide Takahashi (psyvariar graphics are shit, so it seems more believable)?
Executive Producer --> Takato Yoshinari
Programmer --> Takashi Egawano as ORE808"
Designer --> Hide Takahashi as bymake2
Sound --> Tatsuro Sato as WASi303
(note- in the actual Psyvariar game credits, their real names aren't shown)

In case if you wondering the source of oxtsu's Psyvariar Medium Unit and Psyvariar Revision Taito G-Card carts of mentioned staff names, they are revealed for the first time in the Psyvariar 2 OST CD inside cover jacket for posterity... ^_~
I used to wonder just who those "mystery" Psy-MU/Psy-R staff members hiding under those monikers were...
You might recall that Tatsuro Sato was the guy who did the BGM tunes for the JPN PSX game of Success' Superlite 1500 series Sanvien (aka Starfighter Sanvien for the USA region PSX from A1-Games budget label games division of Agetech) -- and even sounds very similar to Psyvariar in retrospect...
Sorry for bumping this, but are those all of the shmups by NMK? There's no English wikipedia article for the company and I can't find much info about it. I'd like to know a list of every shmup they made.
They went out of business 10 years ago. Not quite sure what the programmer or graphics artists are doing anymore. Hideya Kazunori is currently a sound engineer at Konami iirc, Manabu Namiki is doing stuff at M2 now, and I'm not sure what Sizlla Okamura is doing anymore.
trap15 wrote:That's not even close. Psyvariar isn't NMK at all, that proposed link is ridiculously thin. Ore-dayo is Youichi Koyama, Hide-Kaz is Hideya Kazunori.
In order from first to last:
Argus
Valtric
P47
Saint Dragon / Tenseiryuu
Task Force Harrier
USAAF Mustang
Black Heart
Thunder Dragon
Hacha Mecha Fighter
Macross
Gunnail
Thunder Dragon 2
Macross 2
Arcadia / Rapid Hero
Zed Blade / Operation Ragnarok
P47 Aces
Desert War / Wangan Sensou
They also made a few non-STG games without their name on it, if you want I can list those out too.
Thank you Trap15, this is really helpful.
And it'd be cool if you want to list the non-STG games too.
Sure. And to answer a question in the OP, I actually asked Sizlla Okamura a few weeks ago on Twitter if there was a relationship between UPL and NMK. His answer, verbatim, was "No. There was no capital relationship between NMK and UPL. RT @trap0xf: @sizokmr Are you familiar with UPL? I am curious of their link..." However, looking back at his feed, it sounds like some executives at NMK came from Universal before they became UPL, but he generally doesn't know. Not sure what to take away from it all. Anyways, list of all NMK developed non-STG games:
Psychic 5
Buta-san
City Connection (not 100%, but I think so) (EDIT: Nope, actually by Hect)
Legend of Makai / Makai Densetsu
Mahjong Daireikai
Urashima Mahjong
Mahjong Channel Zoom In!
Gun Dealer
Yam! Yam!?
Quiz Gakuen Paradise
Saboten Bombers (this game is really fun)
Quiz Panikuru Fantasy
Bombjack Twin
I believe Riot is developed by Tecmo and published by NMK.

Wow, NMK made some really great stuff, didn't realize they were behind some of these titles. Gunnail would be a sweet PCB to own someday but I'm more than certain I've come across old sale threads where the board goes for crazy amounts.

It's possible, but I don't think so. It doesn't really seem like an NMK game. UPL used NMK's customs on most of their later games, including stuff that is almost 100% guaranteed not NMK, so I don't think that's a good indicator.
Yeah, I'm not sure why people have always thought Strahl is NMK, as it seems a lot like any of UPL's other games. Noone thinks Acrobat Mission is NMK though...
Also, to correct an earlier post of mine, City Connection was neither NMK nor Jaleco, it was Hect (aka Hector), and the group is now Axle (not 100% on the name, the info is on GDRI), their website lists City Connection all parts.
Yeah, I fixed the sound about half a year ago. As usual, use latest MAMEPlus! for all recent developments. All games on the nmk16.c driver have working music now. Desert War and P-47 Aces still have broken music, but those are on different hardware that has serious issues that aren't even sound related.
Oh, wow. You did this? Wait, you're the big NMK fan, right? Or was it something else? Well either way. Thanks a lot. I'm going to check this out once I wake up. Always wanted to play the Arcade version, but couldn't because game music with gaming is very important to me. And not the same at all otherwise.
