Wasshoi in Tokaigi 2015 (restream highlights)

So at Tokaigi in Japan there's a three day long gaming festival going on. This morning there was this year's edition of Wasshoi - yes, that Wasshoi - and it featured some amazing demonstrations by a group of the top players in Japan. What's really cool was they streamed the entire session on Nico Nico Douga for people who couldn't attend.

Well, I figured, why not restream the live broadcast for those who don't have access to Nico? :3
So I did.

This morning, I restreamed the broadcast as it was happening live on my Twitch channel for people to watch, hang out and chat, and it was really good fun. Getting it on Mumble was kind of short-notice, but it worked really well in that we ended up with some great commentary on particular runs, especially DOJWL and TGM3. I've just finished archiving everything on Twitch, and am in the process of uploading the highlights and full stream to Youtube for permanent archiving. The only thing I'm disappointed with is that my internet connection was highly unstable for the first hour and a half of the stream, so there was a lot of buffering, but as the night went on, it sorted itself out.

I caught the last 3 zones of Darius Gaiden and watched the rest. It was incredible (especially fufufu’s DOJ-WL run). Thanks again for re-streaming Icarus and all the guys jumping in for commentary.

The commentary on DOJ-run adds extra excitement. I watched the last minutes several times. Especially the reaction of the commentators and fufufu himself. It fascinates me how polite and reserved japanese people can be, even after this kind of achievement. I was rather surprised when the commentator rushed to fufufu and gave him a hug.

There are tricks to stop the enemies from firing, or to make them fire more (any enemy shot by a captain scores you 0) the tricks are fighting game moves, like quarter circle forward, somewhat like in G Darius.

Thanks for restreaming and putting replays on youtube. I had to go to bed early last night but was able to catch the rest of the replays today. Excellent commentary, i follow most of you on twitch and/or youtube and i love all your guys content u put out. You all have really made me dig deeper into the genre i even stream stgs now cuz of you guys. I guess this is like a community you have all have created and im very thankful for it, thanks a bunch and keep the streams/ youtube vids/ stg weekly/ podcasts coming!

I was only expecting there to be maybe 15-20 people, so it was a pleasant surprise to see 80+ sat watching the stream with us. And you guys did such a good job with the DOJ and TGM3 commentary that I just kicked back and enjoyed it. :3
Like I said at the end of the stream, I wouldn't have done it if I didn't think people would enjoy it or take something from it. Judging from the activity in the DGEX, DOJ and CCWI score threads, it's rekindled some love for those games, which is great. Hopefully there'll be some more Wasshoi-like STG event streams soon, as it'd be nice to make the restream a regular thing. I have ruined my sleeping patterns this week, though, so I'm taking a small break from streaming my own practices to recover. :S
