to the guy at the top who was complaining about the dc joypads:
you can buy a 3 in 1 adaptor for cheap (probably from lik-sang) that allows the use of ps2 or saturn joypads, assuming of course that under defeat will use the cross and not the stick.
Oh and btw here's something i found at vgi.com:
New shooter Under Defeat announced for Dreamcast!
The truly fabulous looking helicopter shooter Under Defeat by G-Rev (of Border Down fame) has seemingly been announced for Dreamcast with a March date. It seems that some sites have jumped the gun slightly and are taking preorders without having a confirmed date/price and full details of any special versions. Hopefully this will become clear in the next few days, but until it is, we won't put the game on the site for preorder.
they still have yet to take preorders so one wonders if play-asia have jumped the gun on their march release date?
The tangled threads of shmups forum are not always quick to unwind cleanly. (i.e. I was avoiding separating direct responses.)

For balance G.Rev should add birds this time (to the "arranged" mode if there will be one). After the years of birdlessness playing Border Down DC, it would be like finally having closure for all the ornithophiles.

I just preordered Rajirugi yesterday from NCSX, and called to verify order confirmation / shipping details this morning. During the conversation, I inquired about Under Defeat's preorder availablity. The girl stated the Under Defeat preorder (standard & LE versions) listing should be posted at NCSX either this Thursday or Friday.
Duel Savior Destiny Preorders for Dual Savior Destiny regular and limited edition are shipping today along with all preorders for PSP Taito Memories Pocket. A partial shipment of X360 DOA4 arrived today but the remainder should arrive in the next few days. Each copy of the game includes a bonus poster and a slipcase which features portraits of Kasumi on the front and Ayane on the back.
On the main NCS website, we start preorders for the ASC Guitar Controller which was green-lighted by Konami on Jan. 4. Preorders are scheduled to ship on May 26, 2006 at the price of US$289 + shipping.
NCS expects to open up preorders for the Dreamcast versions of Under Defeat tomorrow. We spent a little over US$1500.00 for the Naomi GD-Rom a couple of months ago but DC gamers will own it for much less.
The second loop is when you beat the game, and you have to beat it again (usually to see the "true" ending), except now everything is much, much harder.
To start with the second loop in Under Defeat, hold up and the fire button while pressing start.
Just say stage 3 front line and stage 4 the fortress sno level, WOW, I honestly think this could be best shmup since ikaruga and gradius 5. weather effects are amazing snow level trees and explosions in wind blew me away.
Going to wait until some of you guys get it first before I comit to it, I think this will be worth building a custom stick just to play!
Think the birds from the 1st level will survive G.Rev's porting process this time?
The birds also appear during the boss fight in that stage. There are alot of littl subtleties in the game, hopefully they all make the dreamcast version lol
drsmoo wrote:thanks, any vague descriptions of stages 5 and 6?
As in 4 is a snow stage, 2 is a water stage.
I remember reading that the game uses the system clock/date, and that the snow stage is there because its winter time right now. Meaning during the summer, I don't think stage 4 will be covered in snow.

Wow, that would be very cool if true (and implemented in the DC version)!
Would this be the first shmup to use an internal clock for such a purpose?
I can't remember any other shmup doing a similar thing...

Considering what the trees do under wind and explosions, I wonder what the game looks like when the Typhoon season rolls around
How far across the internet has this news gotten, anyway? Anyone else trying to spread the word to the uninitiated with possible disposable income?
Mmm... definitely a good year for both the Dreamcast and shmups in general.

DS: As you know, we are huge DREAMCAST fans. Will we be able to look forward to future ports of your titles?
G.rev: To be honest, the dreamcast doesn’t present itself as a favourable situation for us. This decision is based on the way gaming is today, development costs, and sales. That said, the option to port to Dreamcast is always there for us and is always looked into. So don’t think that there’s NO chance of there ever being a new Dreamcast title.
After much consideration, I just pre-ordered my copy of Under Defeat and Rajirugi from NCSX. Went UPS ground for shipping (around $4 for each game). Since I'm just south of DC, I figured it wouldn't take more than two or three days for me to get it anyway. Here's hoping that the game is compatable with my Innovation Game Converter.

UPS Ground from NCSX always arrives overnight to me here in Maryland. At most you'll be waiting 2 days.
