HDBOX PRO alternative only for wii?

Post by Lefteris »

Hello

I have the HDBOX PRO for wii but I read that it has roughly 2 frames (30ms) delay and the image is not very clear.
Does anyone know of a good cheap alternative? I don't use ps2,ps3, xbox etc. I need this for Wii games, Wiiware, Gamecube games (some 576i), VC I don't care.
I found these http://www.climaxdigital.co.uk/epages/B ... cts/111128
http://www.amazon.co.uk/1080P-Component ... to+vga+wii
Do you recommend them or any other you know? I want it to have no delay processing or input lag.
My monitor is an LG207WT with DVI and VGA input.
Thanks.

I have the first one you linked and it's not a good device. The HD BOX Pro is already pretty good for the Wii, I had one and was happy with it until it died. It also supports 240p without major problems.

If you want lower input lag you could look into simple component to HDMI transcoders, like the Lenkeng LKV5000.

Thanks for your help! :)

I saw this one with vga, is it any good? I prefer VGA than hdmi since my monitor doesnt have hdmi.

I used one of the Wii2HDMI adapters and was quite happy with the output.

You can use an HDMI to DVI cable to connect to your monitor, and it has a 3.5mm jack for sound output.

I have the same Wii2HDMI clone and can't recommend it, it has some distortion on the HDMI audio and the 3.5mm jack on mine is shot.

The Lenkeng box is probably your best bet these days, I would have gotten that if it weren't for my plasma. There are transcoders that are probably more well-regarded, like the Crescendo units, but finding them isn't as easy.

I have two of them, the one is neoya the other is this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wii-HDMI-Conver ... B007PY3ZPG
The thing is that the 2nd one doesnt work and neoya doesnt support Bomberman Land maybe cuz its not 16:9.
I want something to control ratio and resolutions like HDBOX.

Yes I read in Fudoh's reviews that Lenkeng is a clone of HDBOX so maybe it has the same input lag.

Bomberman Land is 480i only, you won't have much luck there with these cheap units (same for your PAL GC games for that matter). Best to use a CRT with RGB SCART for that, or look into XRGBs if that's not an option.

Cheap and lagfree options are available for 480p only. Everything that involves 15khz (240p and 480i) will require deinterlacing and that introduces some processing delay.

The older XRGBs offer lag free 480i processing, but they only output to VGA.
Some home theater processors (DVDO Edge for example) offer low lag deinterlacing for 480i sources (7-8ms), but they're more expensive (around $200-250 for a 2nd hand Edge).
