Interesting. Not sure I’d buy a PS4 for a new shmup, but certainly worth keep an eye on.

So maybe this and Blood Borne might drag me into the current gen.

I'm hoping it's nothing like Ikaruga personally I can't stand that game, but I can see why others love it. Maybe Yagawa has taken a small job at M2 as well and you'll get Ikaruga 2: Dot eater with hellish rank and lots of extends triggering suicides that spew out bullets that you have to use to make your chains for score.

The name is actually Ubusuna, see here http://www.vgmaterials.com/notebook/ (select the address bar and hit enter to get past the inexplicable hot-linking protection on iuchi's blog)
Like I said before I think the game will be good and I expect it to avoid Ikaruga's flaws the same way Ikaruga avoided some of Silvergun's flaws (rpg mechanics, too much padding in the main game)

Correct, Siliconera got it wrong which was then parroted by everybody else (including me)

No way to say what Iuchi has planned. It could be the expected Project RSG3 with a vertical orientation and chaining, or it could be something totally different (i.e. horizontal, tube shooter, rail shooter, dual-analog, or another overhead tank shooter like Kokuga).

Whatever it is, I hope it's a fully-featured, full-priced retail release with production values comparable to Ikaruga's. Hopefully G.Rev is assisting again.

Wandering a little off topic here but...

RPG mechanics? That's putting it a little severely. I think we're just talking about leveling up weapons and Mars Matrix had that too.

Mars Matrix's weapon leveling isn't nearly as terrible though.

These news are ancient. Wake me up when we have a trailer.
