Heh. Well...you can customize things to your liking, but I don't think 4 large speakers is very practical. You can have two stereo fronts and get great sound from that alone. If you are a music person, two really nice front speakers will do it. If you are mostly looking for home theater, most enthusiasts will recommend you start with a center channel and a subwoofer. Honest.

I've realized that quite a lot of receivers don't have PLII game mode, just movie and music. Supposedly the difference is that game mode redirects bass information from all channels to the sub out, while movie mode only does this for the front channels. Is it worth specifically looking for a receiver that has game mode?
And it didn't occur to me earlier, but when I thought about it, routing HDMI through a receiver can easily add lag, and looking around on the internet this seems to be an issue indeed.
