lol wut? might wanna research that a bit more
Well after reading my earlier post and the response soon after it was re-coded from source to run on Ps2, my bad, Thx

Just thought it made no sense to port being the hardware similarities to Ps1. I still feel that the Ps1 version is better than TL2

Love me so DariusBurst. My favorite STG (retail release) on the PSP. Can't get enough of that game!

Sorry to necro, but I have tried all 3 versions under emulation, with varying degrees of success.
First I tried the Mame version. As we know, it doesn't have music. Plus it's almost impossible to lose the 'graininess' of the graphics in this version. I'm using Mame Plus XT, with the 2xsai filter, plus other Nvidia tricks, and I can make it look, what, 5 - 10 % better? Hardly any improvement really.
The ePSXe version: This, under emulation, can look pretty darn good. No more blockiness or graininess, baby-smooth under Nvidias DSR 'resolution trick'. I think whatever inferiority this may have had to the arcade version in the past is nullified when you soup it up with ePSXe's wonderful filters and shaders.
Taito Legends 2 version: With native resolution, it runs normal and looks just like the arcade version. But, when I tried to increase the resolution, it produces vertical grid lines in the image. I really don't know how to get rid of that.

So, for me: ePSXe version.

I have on my PC a version that I got ages ago. I forgot how I got it. It has no music but is otherwise really great. In fact I think I can probably fix the music not playing, but its not something I bothered to do.

It's supposed to look "blocky and grainy", that's how PS1 3D looks.

If there's no music for you in MAME you're almost a year behind. http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=49309

Yeah, naturally that's how they look. We can fix this though with texture filters and a high resolution, etc, leading to a far smoother look. You try losing the graininess in mame however, and results are limited at best.

Ok thanks I just seen that. Same as above, without graphics enhancements such as the ePSXe version, I cannot place it above what is a much more easier-on-the-eye version on ePSXe.

It's very much so worth it to purchase the Taito Legends 2 disc & look into using HDLoader to play G-Darius from a PS2 mounted hard drive even with access to the other formats. For one, it runs silky smooth that way & shouldn't tax the machine. As many of you know, Legends 2 comes with Darius Gaiden, RayStorm, Metal Black, Gekirindan, & a buttload of other fine Taito games like Growl. There are options in the main menu to universally adjust music & fx volume across all included titles as well so you can drink in all that glorious Zuntata leisurely. It's a really great disc!

For those who can't afford/don't have access to Taito Legends 2, the PSOne version plays good enough.

I just scored a cheap copy of Taito Legends 2 a few weeks back, and am looking forward to clocking some time with it. I own the original North Americal PS1 release of G-Darius, and have played it quite a bit, so I'll be curious to see the differences in the TL2 port. I'll also echo the use of a PSX2PSP version of G-Darius on the PSP. Plays great, sounds great, and other than the obvious limitations of the PSP screen, looks great for what it is. I didn't realize there was a PC port with redbook audio - might be worth tracking down on Amazon...

I beg to differ. The boss slowdown is unbearable if you've played the arcade or PS2 version.
