Deathsmiles for iOS not working on iOS8.1

Hello.

Has anyone of you who has the game faced problems with this particular game? Ever since i updated my iDevice to iOS8.1, the game stopped working. it tries to boot up and then off to the springlauncher.

Cant play it anymore(not even the demo version) so i was wondering if anyone else is having the same issues?

I can confirm that it just shows the cave logo and boots you back to the home screen.
I really wish I could downgrade to iOS 7 but the iPhone6+ is preloaded with 8. I've had nothing
but problems with apps randomly stuttering (especially annoying on rhythm games),
freezing / crashing, not booting, etc. that never happened to me on my old iPhone5 with iOS 7.
So CAVE would have to release an update or iOS has to start sucking less, but I have slim hopes for either.

Shit! Really? so if i wanna play them next year when Android 5 comes out for my SGS4, i'll lose the capability of playing them on the go? ... well, remind me not to buy more shit from CAVE for mobile dispositives, cuz im so upgrading my phone to Lollypop (or better yet, getting a new smartphone!).

iOS 8 has broken quite a few games. Deathsmiles being one of them. Ataris Greatest Hits app is also broken. I'd contact apple and request a refund if Cave doesn't fix the problem.

Remind me not to update my iDevice anymore. DS died with OS8.1 dont want DDP or Mushi to die with any other update.

It works great. Happy to have Deathsmiles back in working order again on the go. Strange thing is that when I tried to download it, it said that the download was over 100MB and wouldn't download it until I was on wifi. Then it just downloaded anyway. I'm pretty sure it was MUCH less than 100MB because it took about a second.

I think they pretty much forgot about it. The Android version broke months before this one and so far nothing. iOS version broke last November or December and it's fixed already.

The last Android fix was for 4.3, released July 2013 and fixed January 2014.

Unfortunately everything broke again with the release of 4.4.4 in June 2014.

If it's no longer a major source of income, and would cost more to pay people to fix it then they're more likely to just let it drop off the face of the earth..

most of this mobile stuff is about making a quick bit of cash, when you look at traditional console platforms games were never forward compatible beyond a generation, so at some point the sensible business decision just becomes to drop support, much like the PC market.

the problem is that once support gets dropped on these mobile things, and they get erased from the stores, they're as good as gone, people aren't preserving them (except the really popular ones, and even then, most pirates don't bother with patches so you get the buggy first release)

I've already seen many posts on these forums regarding old Cave mobile games because you simply can't get them anymore, expect more and more things to go that way with phones / tablets. You've been spoiled with emulation keeping older things alive.

The other issue is of course that not updating your phone isn't really a choice in some cases (security etc.) and you can't just reinstall the OS of your choice at a later date on many of them, but nobody really cares about that as long as the money keeps rolling in, and that's the way everything has headed, we''re many years into 'temporary culture' now and the idea of keeping something beyond a generation without rebuying it seems to be dead and I hate to say it, but it could just be we've reached the end of life for some of these titles.

On ios if you are full syncing then all versions of apps are getting backed up on your hard drive but if it's something that needs an internet connection to a server then that is where the preservation problems lay.
