Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
thankfully this word is a new one on me.
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
The last girl I dated turned me off of intimacy for nearly two years now. She called me 'bae'. She had all sorts of annoying idiosyncrasies & habits like that & also terrible breath. We would shower & I would make sure she got soaped up proper, yet somehow in a matter of hours her skin would go all clammy & noxious again. Icky to the touch, like a frog or sun dried mayonnaise. I swear she was like a witch who had cast some glamor spell on herself but was in reality an old hag. It only lasted a few weeks, but that was all the warning I needed about getting trapped with another girl. To this day the thought makes me turn to stone. Ugh.
Edit - She liked Nu-metal & boy bands to. We were both 30's. She would watch Pitch Perfect every fucking day.

I heard a Big Box store door greeter informing a customer that "you can't install Windows 7 on a Windows 8 PC." I'm not sure if the "oh really?" was credulous or incredulous.

Menopausial bus drivers.
Oh, so 65 degrees outside is not cold enough for you that you have to blast the AC inside the bus, you fscking hag? Take some drugs already, we don't have to end up with our lungs full of mucus just because you can't afford to open your window or put a cold pack on your seat. May you die alone, decrepit and sick. Soon.

So, you're talking about a fetish about literally being crushed? Thats one of the fetishes that I don't think I will ever come to understand. Seriously, what the actual fuck.

Nah, that's probably something else. Crush fetish applies to crushing small objects, but is basically small animal snuff. Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
My shitty scrublord friends. I already tell this to their face, so it's not like I'm that bad of guy (I'm a piece of shit,) but you'd do the same if you knew idiots like I do that play video games all day and have this garbage mentality.
Five different people on RTS, verbatim:
"While I enjoy rts, I often feel that it is too rushed or frantic. I would love an rts style game with a slower pace and a focus on city/base building that actually lasts and isn't just irrelevant after a 30min match."
AKA I just want to turtle/play Sim City multiplayer. Furthermore, I don't understand "isn't just irrelevant after a 30min match" from FPS deathmatch players. Ah, but it's much more fun playing with cheats or credit feeding or just making up arbitrary rules because the game is "too stressful."
GODDAMN BOY, BACK IN MY DAY.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Lol you serious drauch? my main gripe with RTS is that it takes fucking forever to play a game, or a single player campaign, or a skirmish against the CPU. Bear in mind i havent played much since Age of Empires 1/2, Cossacks, Red Alert as a kid. It just seems a massive time sink to me.
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Watchu talkin' about, Willis? Are you confusing me with that quote?
Their argument is that RTS (multiplayer) games are too short and frantic, and would rather have what you're talking about, which is longwinded games and seldom attacking, presumably having one large attack at the end. AKA turtling, which is what every casual player prefers to do, which is why games are hours upon hours. Which yeah, is indeed a massive time sink when everyone is sitting in their bases playing SimCity.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Unreliable friends you employ out of care for them who turn around & use that friendship as an excuse to be a lazy bum. Friends who are always willing to take but never willing to give. Unappreciative friends that act like you're a burden when you need the simplest of things.
In this case I stayed at a friends house last night & need a coworker to take me to our job site who's suddenly not answering his cel phone which is always glued to his hand, especially when he's supposed to be working. I don't usually leave myself at the mercy of others but there was no way for me to have my vehicle here last night. Just to drive it into the ground this place I'm at is on the way between his house & the job site. I wouldn't even be out of the way, but oh lo & behold suddenly his cel phone is off or in another room or any number of excuses he'll throw me except for "I'm still asleep at 1pm & ignoring your calls when you need me".
Thanks to seasonal rains, we haven't been able to work here in nearly a month. It's just now dry enough to get some shit done & bam - already with the horseshit. Pisses me off man.

Haha, nah. Poor wording on my part. So the moral of this story is maybe I'd enjoy RTS more if I didn't suuuck. Do you think later popular RTS than the ones i've mentioned discourage turtling?drauch wrote:Watchu talkin' about, Willis? Are you confusing me with that quote?
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
I think on a competitive level all well developed RTS discourage turtling as a primary strategy against human opponents. The big thing is that with a finite number of resources you're forced to expand, which turtling restricts you from doing so. Any good RTS will also have a unit designed for taking out blockades from afar, so any moderately skilled player should be able to easily deal with that, or even do some sort of air drop or boat deploy from the side as the turtle usually puts emphasis on the choke points, because encircling your entire base is expensive and you can only do so much. People sorta went against this in StarCraft back when I used to play during the heyday with exploiting custom maps, crippling the foundation of the wonderfully balanced RTS. You'd rarely find a "normal" map, as custom maps allowed you to max out the resources, with later hacks giving the creator the ability to stick minerals right next to the base, meaning that your resource gatherers could stack as well and didn't even move to gather resources. Then it was basically a race to max one particular unit and meet in the middle and watch that frame rate droppppp. So boring, so silly.
I'm by no means an expert and don't play many competitive matches in anything anymore, and yeah, turtling can be fun when playing certain campaign missions or against the CPU, but you'll basically get destroyed if you ever want to take it seriously. I found that out the hard way and had to change my play style to learn how each unit works and how to efficiently use them. It's definitely a time sink to learn each game, but once you have a better understanding you'll find that most matches really aren't that long, it's just that turtling sorta draws it all out. Great practice is the new AOE II HD edition AI. Previous Hard AI was good practice, but the HD edition is such a vast improvement. Very skilled and fast, flanks you, adapts, and basically forces you to play faster and develop new strategies.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
I'm surprised these folks you know haven't flocked to League/Dota 2 with the rest of the scrublords yet. It's no mistake that the RTS genre has been heavily marginalized and cannibalized by the simplistic, tactically degenerate and player responsibility-absolving MOBA genre over the past few years. Admittedly, some of the fault falls on Blizzard for handling Starcraft II spectacularly badly.drauch wrote:Five different people on RTS, verbatim:

I can't install them to my hdd that way & have to jump through hoops to convert everything. It's just annoying that when you download a .rar you have no indication of what's inside half the time. I can only download from an Internet cafe 15 miles away during buisness hours & on my days off.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Went to visit a friend once, in Sikkim, she stays near Gangtok (state capital). Her house was literally on a hill, means you have drive from the main city for like an hour or two, driving with mountains to one side and steep cliffs on the other, then you reach the hill her house is at, then climb atleast ten storeys up. Beautiful place, three sides of the house were surrounded by even larger hills.circuitface wrote:The southern US, aka the butthole of America. I'm only able to view this forum thanks to mobile data.
